Online Education

Since this is a tech forum, some of you might be interested in this - I recently did a computer science course from Udacity and it was brilliant, fun and a great learning experience.

Watch these two videos to learn more about it:

1. Salman Khan:

This is about the Khan Academy, which you probably know about but this video is worth watching if you haven't seen it

2. Sebastion Thrun on Udacity:

The second video explains how Sebastian Thrun of Stanford and Google fame saw Khan's talk and went on to start - which is where I'm doing some classes now - it's really good and I think this is the future of education

There are two other amazing online university courses besdies Udacity:

EdX is a not-for-profit enterprise of its founding partners Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that features learning designed specifically for interactive study via the web. Based on a long history of collaboration and their shared educational missions, the founders are creating a new distance-learning experience. Anant Agarwal, former Director of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, serves as the first president of edX. Along with offering online courses, the institutions will use edX to research how students learn and how technology can transform learning—both on-campus and worldwide. EdX is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is governed by MIT and Harvard.

That Salman Khan Video was interesting. And yeah, this concept isn't new anymore, but it's pretty awesome nonetheless.
