As per PTA directive, Ufone along with all other telecom companies
are now required to register and keep records of their SIM holders.
Many, like me, got their SIMs from a panwala by giving them a copy
of my NIC. I thought that would suffice.
But now Ufone Customer Service Representative (CSR) maintain
that everybody like me, has to come in and fill out the form, do the
thumb print and get their SIMs registered officially and properly, to
avoid getting blocked. There were news reports last week that tens
of thousands of multiple and bogus SIMs have already been blocked.
Btw, all of us will continue to receive these BULK SMS, even when
we have registered. Because they go out to everybody.

Note: Ufone CSR maintains that just sending in your NIC number
through a SMS will NOT get you registered. You have to come in
to their offices and do the whole paper work thingie, for them to
properly register you. Sending SMS does NOT count, is what I was
told, in no uncertain terms.
