thread updated ! ...

Honestly, I am really excited about Windows 7. Windows 7 is an upgrade to Windows Vista (just like Windows XP was an upgrade to Windows 2000). Windows 7 is not a big leap (like Windows 95 to Windows 3.1) but it's a better and upgraded version of Windows Vista (what it suppose to be in first place).

Windows 7 is lot much better than Windows Vista, especially when it comes to hardware requirements. Microsoft paid real attention to user's voices to lower hardware requirements, tweaks, and speed.

At PDC, Microsoft's employee Steve Sinofsky showed Asus Eee running Windows 7. Yes, you heard right. Look at this link to see a Asus Eee with Intel Celeron 900 Mhz (1GB RAM) running Windows 7 perfectly fine: http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2008/12/windows_7_running_on_asus_eee_pc_900.html

Look here for newer Asus Eee running Windows 7: http://blog.laptopmag.com/eee-pc-1000h-runs-windows-7-well

However, I have only complain that Microsoft is getting to much ideas from Mac and turning Windows 7 into Mac OS X clone. Read more at following links:

Apparently Microsoft just released Windows 7 Beta 1. Heres a review and pictures for the Windows-maniacs:

It seems Microsoft did learn from some of their mistakes and fixed issues, especially relating to its notorious bloatware. I hope they come out with a good OS, for their sake as well as for consumers. Competition in any industry always spurs innovation and I'll be eager to see how Mac OS and Linux distros respond to Windows 7.

I'm checking out the screenshots. Had read the review before you posted here, but I think this version won't disappoint the users... for starters, they've created a referencing system for all the DLLs and what-not to avoid clutter (which is something Linux did long ago).

However, the after-install size is still a bit unclear (for e.g., XP takes roughly 3GB after install, and no other program installed e.g. antivirus/Office etc). I wonder how much this takes.

Beta 1 will officially be out on January 5th. Right now, a leaked version of build 7000 (Beta 1) is out on torrents but i cannot confirm whether it works or not. I know beta 1 will be a public beta so probably once keys are issued then, these torrents may work. HOwever i am sure there are cracks available to install beta 1 now.

Is Microsoft going to feature-lock at Beta 1 or on some stage later?

Don’t know about that, but there have been a lot of rumors saying there will be only one beta, and only one RC after that, then release.

That will be very unusual of Microsoft. What about public opinion on Beta? And changes to OS according to public opinion and beta testers?

Hmm, Microsoft is changing after Bill Gates.
