Whats the difference between dimm rams and sodimm rams?

guys i have 2 (1gb) DIMM ram sticks on my 2 ram slots and one the 3rd one i have installed 1 gb SODIMM ram.... i have a intel DG33FB motherboard and its diagram from google images show that the rams slot are only DIMM RAMS slots...

my question is that is there any performance issues am gonna face with these two different types of rams installed on my pc.

or

i have to arrange these rams in a specific order on the board ?

As per my limited knowledge, SODIMMs are only designed for notebooks, similarly DIMMs for desktop PCs.

Even in terms of size (specially length) both are different.

As Shariq said SODIMMs are of a different size than DIMMs so you won't be able to install them on your desktop motherboard. Don't even try to do it or you'll damage your motherboard. Now if the module that you have is the same size as the DIMM modules then it is not a SODIMM module.

bro i have installed 2 DIMMS and 1 SODIMM ram on my motherboard... its raeltively smaller in size then then previous two...

heres the image of it... mine is like the 2nd one from the right....

shall i remove it from my desktop board ?

As far as i know SODIMM RAM and DIMM RAM are both different things. SODIMM cannot be used in desktop system and DIMM RAM cannot be used in laptops cause they both have different size in length.

That looks like a mislabeled image. Those look very much like DIMM modules. As pointed out before if the module fits in your desktop motherboard then it is a DIMM Module.

See the following images of sodimm modules:

As you can see they are a lot smaller than dimm modules:

@samthetuffguy

Your mobo have four DIMM slots, therefore you will never be able to fit SODIMM on it, or upload the image of your actual module so that we can sugest you better.

@neoclue

I havnt seen any mobo with dual option i.e. DIMM and SODIMM both, anybody?

ok i will upload my board and rams pix there for you guys to discuss asap.

Here is DG33FB motherboard support page from Intel. Check its configuration and details about ram and other things.
