What will you do if there was an internet blackout in Pakistan?

Suppose that the Pakistan government turns off the internet for whatever reasons, as other countries have recently done, with no estimate of when it will be made available again.

How will you deal with it?

Will become real cowboys instead of keyboard ....

I shall ask my parents, grand parents about what they used to do in 1960s, 1970s. You know, life was simple back then. No crowd of noisy media channels, no moral announcing internet, no traffic jams and no pollution, no cellphones for silly mentally kids to talk to their girl friends all night long, no computer; xbox; playstation to waste time on, only fresh healthy games.

wow on quality of threads nowadays.......

thats so no brainer, specially to OP doens’t such thing already exist in Pakistan… lets be realistic majority doesn’t have generators and local battery thng electric inverter wrongly called UPS is barely enough for fans and lights. so realistically and common sensically speaking why start thread about something which is not new to us at all in pakistan. no electric = defacto no internet anyway.

well those with dsl get internet woth generators but what about those with worldcall cable internet their backup batteries gave up long time ago, no electric = no electric to worldcall junction boxes = no cable tv and internet,

BIG TO MEDIUM SIZE CITIES: in average 3 to 4 hours electric load shedding everyday, and at least one or two times 3 days straight electric blackout without any notice as experienced twice in karachi and once in lahore.

SMALL CITIES TO VILLAGES: 12 to 13 hours electric black out and sometimes 4 to 6 days total outages are norm.

will search for international numbers that provide free dial-up internet, like the people did in Egypt when Husni Mubarik blocked all internet early last year

move to satellite internet .. the Govt can never block that down...

Intrenet blackout?????

Is that even possible?

youd have to blow up all the towers, centers, telephone lines, mobile lines, wimax, cdma, cablenet, etc to cause a blackout......

even then people would creat mini wans, lans to keep some form of internet going

Ahh… nope

No electricity no internet… not even satellite internet without the fuss of all that destruction.

^^Just one strong EMPs attack is enough for the complete blackout of electricity and internet.

On national scale, it can take up to 10 years to completely restore infrastructure for electricity. Individual power production via generators won’t help to make internet communication across the country. It is said that if EMPs attack a country, all national grids including connected electrical equipment of homes will blow up. And by the way, if it happens, who would care if there is internet or not! People would be dying of thirst. (Conspiracy Theories)

Everything can’t be shielded from EMPs. Wires going inside the machinery are enough to give a surge of 1000s of volts (possibly, more than 50,000 volts) and blowing that machine.

Care to share any examples of using an EMP attack that can attack the whole country?

May be, you should spare sometime and watch documentary ‘‘Electronic Armageddon’’ made by National Geographic channel. It is a twisted documentary toward Iran and North Korea. Iran does not have such technology but I bet, America does have. These channels often twist the facts and truths in many documentaries.
