What technology you "miss" in Pakistan?

Salam All,

I like to know your view about the technology you miss here in Pakistan. If you ask me I would say I miss the "Hosting Industry", we (Pakistani) pay lots of money to US Hosting companies because we don't have any good hosting company. The companies promoting as "Pakistani Hosting Company" are just resellers of US servers. They don't have their own data centers here.

I think only PTCL has their data centers here but never heard about their hosting packages.

If we have high quality hosting industry here then it will be good for us and of course for our country :)

What do you say?

we are leader in

I would say I miss a comprehensive online transaction/business infrastructure. Companies like Paypal are not providing services here, nor are the local banks and the government sycophants fully ready (particularly mindset wise). A competent minister for IT related affairs who knows the actual problems and has the will and resources to tackle them would be a miracle.

Paypal. 3G, drive through ATMs, cheap wireless broadband, and many more...

I miss Nikola Tesla

Technology to produce electricity - a very basic need to run servers :-)

100% agree, I also miss Paypal very much. But we have moneybookers (Skrill) and we should promote it more and more so that more US people start using it :)

Oh yes, even in the 21st century we are struggling to produce electricity :(

I miss computer aided education.

LOL its not the technology you are missing my bro what actually you are missing is friendly trade and business polices plus secure environment for them

all above car makers you have mentioned are manufacturing/assembling their cars in Korea and China why? because these two countries are free from load shedding terror and corruption that is the simplest explanation i can give you

title of this thread is utterly misleading, what do you mean by "miss in pakistan?"

to miss something in pakistan firstly that thing has to have existed in the past in pakistan.

if i say i miss chocolate flavor polka icecream in pakistan then this would be correct since back in 80s and 90s there was ice cream company in pakistan by the name of polka used to make ice cream.

but if something never ever existed in pakistan to start with so how can you miss that in pakistan?

i think you are missing out the OP’s intentions in his post, which is to retain the money in pakistan. i don’t see any need for paypal in domestic market, unless you wanna buy something outside pakistan.
we (Pakistani) pay lots of money to US
i think the domestic payment system may lack a lot compare to west but its pretty sufficient given third world status.

1- pretty much all mini marts to large super markets all accept credit/debit cards

2- patrol stations all accept credit/debit cards

3- so as majority of shops from clothing to electronics.

4- all local major online stores from computers to every day electronics etc sell C.O.D ( cash on delivery) to one’s residence.

5- all utilities bills can be paid right from you bank account.

P.S: I am not saying that paypal should not be here but it doesn’t really make much difference to domestic commerce, but yes it has lots of relevance for someone doing outsourced project in Pakistan and getting paid for it through paypal or someone intending to buy things from foreign countries or paying for services etc.
