UPS Question

i know this is gona be a stupid question but in UPSes i know what a square wave is

so what is a sine wave

and what is the diffrence between the 2 and which one is better

Sine wave is the clean power so it’s obviously better of the two. When running on square wave, appliances like fans create a buzzing sound.

I’m sure someone else will have a better technical explanation.

Sine wave is better since that resembles the normal AC power for which most equipment is designed and tested. Square wave works with most appliances but might causes fluctuations or damage the appliance if it cannot withstand square wave.
