Umar Akmal 129 v New Zealand

first Test, Dunedin

So you're a 19-year-old Pakistani making your Test debut in New Zealand, on a windy day, with your side 85 for 5 and Shane Bond bowling at a scorching pace. Bring it on, you say, and smack 129 runs in 160 balls, pulling sensationally, cutting and driving emphatically, slog-sweeping Daniel Vettori disdainfully: basically asking your senior and more accomplished team-mates what the fuss is all about. You also score a much more mature 75 in the second innings, but are let down by the rest again and end up on the losing side.

He is a good Attacking Batsman but his brotherhood will lay him down.

#3

no not his brotherhood, his ego will let him down. He needs a mentor Misbah ul haq will do, as we saw that in Sri lankan tour.

#4

brotherhood with kamran akmal again 3rd test vs aus.

#5

Good for him.

#6

But not good for Pakistan

Yes I know, that is why I mentioned Misbah-ul-haq, I have seen him going really free with Umar. Even when playing with Afridri he look a lot more mature. I think they both can act as his personal coaches.

#8

@Shiraz

Plz explain fully, why its bad for Pakistan.

#9

At international level we need players that play for pakistan, not play with Pakistan.

After 2nd Test defeat, umar Akmal's injury drama clearly shows, he prefer his brother over country.

No doubt he is a talented batsmen, but he plays only when he wants and thats Not Good for Pakistan.

#10

It was a special innings under pressure, funny how we continue to unearth special talent (umar, aamer) even when we are in such a mess. hoping that we will manage the younger generation of cricketer better..

However good or natural talent that he is,he can’t play with pakistan.I used to like him but after the 2nd test incident,he’s lost respect.

Umar Akmal is good with the bat if he bats,he needs proper coaching.Gilchrist and Afridi joined in the same year "agay peechay" ..look at the Gilchrist batting statistics in world cricket and look at our Afridi heh.. They don't care if they win or not after all they are getting good bucks for playing a whole series no matter if they win or loose.

Look seriously:

.how many of us actually work for the betterment for our schools

.how many of us actually work for the betterment for our colleges

.how many of us actually work for the betterment for our homes

.how many of us actually play for team wins and not wins generally

Loyalty is always questioned for each and every person, no one can tell whose loyalty lies with whom.

As for UAkmal, he never said he wasn't going to play if his brother wasn't playing. He only said he had a stiff back during practice session, the doctors checked and they said it was alright, now where is the controversy there. Its just coincidence that it happened during KAkmal's drop, its just another slander from the media.

Well the controversy was that he faked an injury, and we don’t want who play at will, after all you will get fired if you don’t act in the interest of your company. :D

Shahid Afridi bagged the second best figures in 2009, taking 6 for 38 in Abu Dhabi in an uncharacteristic Australian collapse, where eight wickets fell for 27. The display won Pakistan the game, though the series was eventually lost.
