Subject: I NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE...........

From the desk of Mrs Grace Keita

Bill and exchange manager

Foreign remittance dept.

Bank of Africa (Boa)

Ouagadougou Burkina Fasoa

"Dear friend,

I am the manager of bill and exchange at the foreign remittance department of the bank of Africa. I saw your contacts in internet search, after much consideration i decided to write you since I cannot be able to see you face to face at first.

I will like you to take your time to read this mail carefully. I did not mean to embarrass you with my business proposal but i seriously need your assistance. Please this is a confidential matter and it requires urgency.

In my department we discovered an abandoned sum of u.s$12.5m dollars (twelve million five hundred thousand usd) in an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer who died along with his entire family on monday,31 july,2000, in a plane crash , since we got information about his death, we have been expecting his or her next of kin to come over and claim his money because we can not release it unless some body applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines and laws, but unfortunately we learnt that his supposed next of kin died along side with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim.

It is therefore upon this discovery, i now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and i don't want this money to go into the bank treasury as unclaimed bill. The banking law and guideline here stipulates that if such money remained unclaimed after 10 years, the money will be transferred into the bank as unclaimed bill, i therefore agree that 40% of this money will be for you as foreigner partner, in respect to the provision of a foreign account, 10% will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business and 50% would be for me. There after i will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentages indicated.

Therefore, to enable the immediate transfer of this fund to you as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as relation or next of kin to the deceased indicating your bank name, your bank account number, your private telephone and fax number for easy and effective communication and location where in the money will be remitted. I will not fail to bring to your notice that this transaction is hitch-free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required

arrangements have been made for the transfer.

You should contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter. Trusting to hear from you immediately.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Grace Keita"

I am 90% sure this is spam but i just wanted to know what you guys think.

This is spam. Similar Nigerian scams in particular are notorious. What they do is after you contact them, they con you into either sending them money, or they ask you to go to the country say Nigeria, where they kidnap you and hold you for ransom. Never fall for ANY email offers. Next time google it, you'll find very detailed information on individual spam email types.

It is SPAM!!

i hv got 10s of these in my inbox :(

HAHAHAa. I also received an email and he told me that a bag full of dollars is placed in England and you have to send some money somewhere in Nigeria then we gonna send you that consignment and nobody knows that there are dollars in it. Even he send me A video of it.

I told him to call me at my cell number and that fraud called me also in the evening. He told me to give $15000 . I asked why? And he told me its shipment charges. I told him, I have a relative in England and he will receive it from you. I will email you his address and send that amount there at my relative address and receive your $15000 from there.

He replied it cannot be happened. I told him that I don't have money to send you from here. He put off the phone.

This was a scam which he tried but not succeeded.

Thanks guys.

I found this list of spam types on the internet. It might be usefull for some of us.

Types of Spam

Today spam is a household word, since 70-80% of all email traffic is spam. Although spam written in English is the most common, it comes in all languages including Chinese, Korean and other Asian languages. In most cases spam is advertising, and experience shows that spammers have targeted specific goods and services to promote. Some goods are chosen because a computer user is likely to be interested, but most are grey or black market goods. In other words, spam is usually illegal not only because of the means used to advertise the goods, but also because the goods and services being offered are illegal in themselves.

Other mass mailings are outright fraud, such as the notorious 419 messages which offer the recipients a share of funds which allegedly cannot be accessed by the sender for political reasons, in return for the recipient's help in legalizing these funds. The recipient is asked to provide bank account details; of course, if the recipient provides these details, the bank account will be emptied without their consent. This type of spam is usually called a 'scam'.

The commonest types of spam

Spam worldwide tends to advertise a certain range of goods and services irrespective of language and geography. Additionally, spam reflects seasonal changes, with advertisements for Christmas items and car heaters being replaced by air conditioner advertising in summer.

However, when averaged out over the course of the year, 50% of spam falls into the following categories:

Some new trends in spam content

Spammers are constantly seeking to enter new markets and develop new techniques. Some areas are evolving rapidly and should be monitored closely.

Political spam

This category includes mudslinging or political threats from extremists and possible terrorists. Though these are merely nuisance messages to end users, security and law enforcement officials need to be aware of such mailings, since they can provide clues to genuine potential threats, or be actual communication between terrorists.

Antispam solutions

Spammers advertise supposed antispam solutions in an effort to cash in on the negative publicity generated by spam itself. However, such offers often lead the user to sites where a Trojan will be downloaded to the victim machine, which will then be used for future mass mailings.

Spam, viruses and junk email

Today, most people class all unsolicited email as spam, including automatic replies, emails containing viruses and unsolicited, but legitimate business propositions. Classifying all such emails as spam is broadly correct, but it must be highlighted that some categories of spam are more dangerous than others.

In particular, the alliance developing between virus writers and spammers is worrisome. The first half of 2004 brought several virus epidemics where viruses were circulated using spammer techniques. These outbreaks were classic examples of how botnets can be created by virus writers, and then sold to spammers for use in future mass mailings.

i have also so many emails in my gmail for sending money to me buy giving them name adress phone no country etc information
