Slow Streaming on PTCL 4MB DSL

Hey guys, I got PTCL last month just before their strike and my phoneline became dead soon... just got the phone and internet working again.

Though I have a 4MBps connection, the quality of streaming is very poor, I used to have worldcall 1MBps and it had better.

Can anyone see the stats i've posted below and find a problem? I believe the SNR and Attenuation values are still ok.

Also does streaming have to do anything with upload speed, because ptcl upload is very slow.

Your help is much appreciated

Thanks..

Ali

BTW your stats are perfect so i guess you wont be getting any sort of disconnections. Can u tell the downloading speed that you get on a direct download. for this go to download.dsl.net.pk download the file from their servers thru IDM or any download manager and tell the speed that you are getting. Do one more thing although its irrelevant but change the dns servers setting to google public DNS i.e. 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4

Ok, I downloaded the 12.4MB file using IDM, the speed was crazy fluctuating around 110Kb/s or 120Kb/s i guess.. reaching a highest 170Kb/s something and lowest around 45Kb/s.

I can't seem to run the file, its just a bunch of random files and folders.

I get around 350kb/s to 400kb/s if I put 3 to 4 torrents on download and very poor upload around 5kb/s or 6kb/s.

Also trying to download the download.dsl.net.pk file using Google Chrome was taking more than an hour and was going at 5-7kb/s...

Also my Downstream says 6140Kbps, shouldn't it say 4096 for 4MBps?

Plus sometimes I keep getting disconnected from Gmail Chat and browsing stalls, for seconds if so.

Also I ran diagnostics from the modem page. Here are the results.

Where do you think lies the problem, it won't be my wifi router will it? Or do I need to forward ports?

aahmad87: Seriously no idea whats wrong at your end. There are many many problems with their network. Its their fault but the thing is they won't ever accept it as their fault.Try to call the local exchange broadband section and tell them to visit your place.
