Slow direct downloading on 4mb

Is there any way to improve direct downloading speed? I always get 400 kb + on IDM and torrents but while when downloading directly my downloading speed keeps varying and I get avg of 60 kb .. I have tried different DNS with same result :(.

then don't download directly :$...

or you can follow tweaks for browser you use and increase its connections ..

*wait while i' link you to those or google it yourself ;)

Same was the case with my wateen wimax connection..the downloading (direct) was hovering around 14-15KB/sec but on IDM it was quite nice.. same goes fore utorrent. Its something done from the backend.

my download is same 100 kb torrents and direct browser download without any tweak trick or magic every thing is default

let me know if there is any working tweak..plz

20% bandwidth Windows is stealing from you

1) Go to Start>Run. Type in "gpedit.msc" (Without the quotes, duh!). (This opens a "Group Policy" window. If you're like me, you wont be interested in what it actually is, but what it can actually do for you.. Right? Anyways..)

2) Follow this path: Local Computer Policy>Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Network>QoS Packet Scheduler>Limit Reservable Bandwidth>. If it's disabled or not configured, change the settings like the one below:

25hk37n.jpg

Like the above screenshot indicates, select "Enabled" and set the Bandwitdth limit to 0%.

Why did we do that? Simple, like I said before, Windows is silently eating 20% of your bandwidth. I emphasize on the word "silently" - The explain TAB of the above window proves it. This is what it says:

"Determines the percentage of connection bandwidth that the system can reserve. This value limits the combined bandwidth reservations of all programs running on the system.

By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default.

If you enable this setting, you can use the "Bandwidth limit" box to adjust the amount of bandwidth the system can reserve.

If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the system uses the default value of 20 percent of the connection.

Important: If a bandwidth limit is set for a particular network adapter in the registry, this setting is ignored when configuring that network adapter."

Thank you Armada but I have already configured the same settings :)

^ then you need to fix or install new telephone wire

1)open notepad and copy paste the code given below

code:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Tcpip\Parameters]

“TcpWindowSize”=dword:faf0

“Tcp1323Opts”=dword:0

and save this file with name speedtweak.reg

after saving it right click it and merge with system registry

but in case if it messed u up (rare case exceptions are always there)

here is the code to bring back yur system registry to earlier state

again open notepad and copy paste this code

code:

[Version]

signature=$CHICAGO$

[DefaultInstall]

DelReg=Delete_Reg_Entries

[Delete_Reg_Entries]

HKLM,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Param eters,TcpWindowSize

HKLM,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Param eters,Tcp1323Opts

and save this file with name fix.reg and after saving again right click and merge it with registry

NOTE:- all effects will take place after reboot

Thanks Armada.. I've applied the above settings. Will get back to you soon :D

Thanks Armanda

Will this tweak work for Wateen connection?

Awesome man it works...! before i was getting hardly 70-120KB/s on direct downloads and now 380-410KB/s.!

Instead of changing the above settings manually download SG TCP Optimizer which can automatically configure all settings just by selecting your bandwidth connection.

hey Armada thanks man.. it did help alot...thumbs down for TCP Optimizer!!
