Routing internet traffic through router at home,,,

#1

guys here is a situation, it might look silly to many of you but kindly advise me if its possible,,,

i have a router at my home in islamabad connected to ptcl internet, i work in oman and many of the websites and specially all the voips are blocked. Is it possible that i connect myself to the pc or router at home thru some encrypted or secure channel and all the internet traffic will pass through my home???

secondly, is there any alternative method of what i am trying to achieve but should be secure???

waiting for reply

Yes it called VPN. Please post your router model and make. You can setup highly secured and encrypted vpn connections easily. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/VPN

I will recommend either of Linksys E3000, Linksys E2000, ASUS RT-N16 (my personal favourite) or if you need strong wifi radio Buffalo wzr-hp-g300nh. Remember this router will be placed in your home in Islamabad.

A setup similar to your needs http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=73671

Your are most welcome.

Although this review was done before Aug 2010 (after which buffalo changed their official firmware to ddwrt), it is still helpful. http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-reviews/30889-buffalo-nfiniti-wireless-n-high-power-router-a-access-point-reviewed?showall=&start=5 Also it is selling at $ 69.99 at amazon and newegg.

You can purchase a vpn service directly from us/european hosts. Probably will be faster than using PTCL.

Try Logmein.com. It is kind of remote desktop solution but you may not like it cause of the lag.

Other than that you will need a VPN as many othera have already suggested.
