Requirement to run Blueray Movies

I want to upgrade my system next month so I have few queries which I want to clear from you people.

Will a good motherboard run blueray movies for ex this one, in its demo it claims that its vga can run blueray movies / 1080p videos:

http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DG45ID/DG45ID-overview.htm

Or Is it necessary to have a seperate graphic / gaming card in pc to run bluerays?

Thanks.

You will need a blu-ray reader and I would suggest going with a dedicated gfx card like nVidia 9600gt.

Yea,

Blu-ray reader plus a graphic card

There are cheap gpu's built only for blu-ray movies

Check them on nVidia website

What do u mean by blueray reader? Is it a blueray CD player? I will d/l movies from internet so I don't need that if it is what u r talking about.

It means I should buy a little cheaper motherboard around 5000 to 6000 Rs as price of above motherboard is 9000 Rs. and buy a graphic card nVidia 9600gt seperately having price around Rs. 7000.

If you want to dwnload, then you dun need blu-ray reader

Why dun you insert the gpu in your old motherboard?

Why buying a new one?

Wrong, what you download from the internet will be bluray-rip movies, there is a BIG difference between blueray-rip & blueray movies.

Anyway, you dont need any graphic card to play Bluray-rip movies.

My present system has become so slow now that it faces even problem in playing videos of 1050x576 or more than that. So upgradation is due.

And yes I also understand the difference b/w Blueray rips and bluerays. Now I want to upgrade my system to Quadcore.

What are the specs of your present system, maybe its just 1 factor thats reducing its speed (i.e. gfx card).

I am using the same mobo with intel E5200 and no gfx card. it plays 720 and 1080p movies just fine. it all depends on ur cpu so if ur getting quad core or core 2 duo u shd have no problems playin bluray rips.

Presently I m using Celeren 2.4 and also i want to clear here that i m not talking abt rips, I m talking about Bluerays / 1080p. Rips r even running on this system also.

I will be buying either E6300, E8400 or Q8200, Q8400

which one will be more faster?

Not sure yet about the motherboard though.

U need a dual core proc atleast…that’s it…preferably core2duo, because the processor has to decode the encryption protecting the blu-ray disc along with decoding the movie. Quad is not needed to play blu-ray.

Oh and you’ll need a blu-ray drive

E8400

Q8400 has low cache size

Then how quadcore is faster than core2duo or on basis of which things we can say any processor is faster than the other?

first u need to be clear what are talking about.

1. BluRays ? which are 40gb in size, u download these ?

2. 1080p Blueray Rips in MKV format which are around 8-16gb ?

which one is it ?

They average size of blueray movies is from 15gb to 35gb, what you download is not blueray movies, they are also blueray-rip movies, they are just higher quality blueray-rips.

Most probably I will be downloading 1080p. But system should be able to run every type of video, may be after a year or so we will be dowloading bluerays also.

If that is Complete Full Disk in 7GB what you have downloaded then that must be copied from DVD9 not from BluRay.

Which processor should I buy then? Which one is faster?

INTEL CORE 2 DUO E8400 3.0Ghz (6MB CACHE - 1333Mhz FSB) (Rs. 15300)

INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q8200 2.33Ghz (4MB CACHE - 1333Mhz FSB (Rs. 14700)

http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLB5M

INTEL CORE 2 QUAD Q8400 2.66Ghz (4MB CACHE - 1333Mhz FSB) (Rs. 15500)

http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=38512

And which motherboard is better performance wise and economically. I will 1st check if movies are played without a graphic card.

INTEL DG45ID (LGA775-SND+AGP+GIGA LAN-1333MHZ FSB) PCX SLOT (Rs. 9000)

http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DG45ID/DG45ID-overview.htm

INTEL DG43NB (LGA775-SND+AGP+GIGA LAN-1333MHZ FSB) PCX SLOT (Rs. 7150)

http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DG43NB/DG43NB-overview.htm

INTEL DG35EC (LGA775-SND+AGP+GIGA LAN-1333MHZ FSB) PCX SLOT (Rs. 6200)

http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/DG35EC/DG35EC-overview.htm

e8400 (6MB CACHE - 1333Mhz FSB) (Rs. 15300) will be the fastest one
