i dont think it is but even if it will be it will be it will be expensive

coz there is no demand for blue ray in pakistan

i would recommend getting Asus DVD-Writer DRW-1814BL (with Light Scribe Technology) and Corsair USB Flash Voyager 2GB. I have been using both of things for a whole and both work gr8. Asus supports light scribe technology means u can also print labels on the back side of cd or DVD without any special printer. just flip the cd after writing and print the label on it. but the media also needs to be lightscribe compatable.

Farrukh

What z diference of price for normal dvd writer & blu-ray?I googled &found blu-ray z a new technology 4reading&writing cd's w/ gr8 precision but i think it wilb far far expensive if available in pakistan.Plz sugest other models too &also sugest which usb 2GB memory stick 2buy.

Even blue ray DVD Roms (BD-ROM) are not are not available in pakistan yet, and u are thinking to buy blue ray dvd writer. and for flash drive buy Corsair brand coz it offers ten years warranty. no other brand does offer that much warranty.

#9

Sfarrukh i like d things u told 10 year warranty of usb wat a person wants more.I didnt undrstand about compatbility 4writing labels on cd's.Wat z price of asus dvd rom u told i know that general price of market sony dvd-rom ranges around 2500.

Read the review http://www.ciao.co.uk/ASUS_DRW_1814BL__6663038

#11

are u asking about DVD-rom or DVD-writer coz u quoted the price of sony DVD-writer, not sony dvd-rom. the price of Asus DVD-Writer would be around 2800/- rupees. printing labels on cd or dvd is called lightscribe. for lightscribe technology overview check out

http://www.lightscribe.com/

and for asus dvd writer check specifications at

http://event.asus.com/2006/odd/lightscribe/en/index.html

i dont know about islamabad market. but i know about karachi market, its easily available in karachi and even in lahore. I am using asus dvd writer from a while now and pretty satisfied. but keep in mind that any drive will not read scratched or old cd’s forever. in start new drive will read cd’s but as its lens will get deteriorated and have scratches on lens then its reading power will decrease. thats the simple case with any drive. so decide whatever u want to do. i m not pressurizing u to buy asus but i am telling my experience. u can buy any new brand.

Sfarrukh u r not pressurizing me but evrybody here in forum must help others w/ his knowledge&experience in technology&u guys hav helpd me a lot so far wat u hav told already i didnt know b4.Actualy thr r many brands in market but when u r going 2buy get d good1 for which u r going 2pay.I like asus as u told&i read on net that it has edge on other dvd-writers bcoz of its ability 2write labels on cd's but did u checkd the link in my earlier post about asus the guy wrote in review that this model workd good 4him but once he labeld cd&aftr that it even didnt read cd's,by d way do they give any waranty 4asus?Som years ago i had a cd-rom of samsung&it was not reading cd's which other cd-roms were reading easily&it disapointd me.Z there any big diference quality wise betwen asus &sony dvd-writers?

#17

well i dont make the labels of cd very much. i think i have used cd labelling only once. and it didnt give me any trouble. and those which u r reading are just user comments not any authentic one's. for me asus is best with one year warranty. and one other thing is that asus time to time provides firmware updates of its products and those can be easily found on net by the software which is provided in asus software cd.

well i didnt use lite on dvd-rw, i have only used lite on dvd-rom. if lite on provides firmware updates and lightscribe then its good. before asus i was using lite on dvd-rom and i think it is good. i gave me no problem with reading cd and dvd. was quick to pick cd's. but when i purchased dvd-rw i switched to asus coz lite on was not available at that time.
