The Things you will be needing are

1. Network Switch/Hub [5 port switch cost 400-600]

2. Three Ethernet cables according to your requirement and distance between two pc’s [normally 4Rs/ft market name CAT-5 Copper]

3. Two Ethernet cards [mostly they are built-in]

And if you luckly got the new Huwaee Modem which has 5 ports then you dnt need a network switch

hey i did not knew about the switch thing what is that

and if it can be used in place of router then why people prefer router

How much ethernet card cost?

And with this procedure the two pcs can be used seperately, when the other is off?

Or we have to switch on the pc having ptcl modem to use internet on the other?

There is a difference between these two

The modem provided by PTCL is generally called router and is used to connect you computer to the ISP

Where as a Network switch is used to connect two computers e.g home network

Well if you not have a built in Ethernet card then in lahore you can get it easily in 50-100 rupees from hallroad/hafeezcentre. they have dozens of rooms full with these cards :D

I dnt know the price of box packed because the used one’s are better then new …

And yes when you use the network switch you can use the two computer separately

The Ethernet cable from the router goes to Network Switch/Hub

and from there you can get as many cables as you want or as many ports are there. :P

^

there are two ways

get a four port router

which wud have 4 ethernet ports

so u cant connect each PC separately to your Router...

2nd way

keep your current router and buy an ethernet switch

then u ll plug the ethernet wire from router in to switch and then distribute it from switch...

a lan/ethernet card usually cost 50rs :)

well by any of above procedure u can use internet on any pc independent of the other

u wont have to turn on or off the other pc to run internet on other...

there is also a way much cheaper...

but with that way u ll have to keep one main PC on to use net on other....

and one PC shud have 2 ethernet cards...

with the above config there is another way that u can use net on PC#2 with out keeping PC 1 ON

I Think tht cable net are mac address bound so u should buy a router.

^yeah exactly so i have a question if i connect a router will my mac address changed

i mean those operator have my mac address if it gets changed then i cannot use internet so if i use router will my mac address changed and will it affect anything?

Well every lan card and router has its own mac address .Ask your cable wala to release your mac address … And You Tell him The mac of your router … So your internet will work after your configure your router …

Well then the Title of the post should be Cable Net Sharing help :(

i cant figure how to use it… because there will be an ip conflict, as your cable operator has only assigned you one ip.

more over he can disconnect your connection if you try to use it on more than 1 pc … because its the policy by many cable operators that you can’t use it on more than one pc. :(

hey the easy way of hacking this..i've tried this n used internet for months....get a good cheap router like Tp-link..connect ur operators cable in the WAN port..set the settings to static IP connection...in WAN there'll be option for MAC clone...clone your router MAC with ur PC mac...the one the operator knows...now set ur I.P range and set the router accordingly..now enjoy internet on as many PC's as u can..n ur operator will see only one PC connected n thts urs, cuz u've cloned ur MAC...tht really works...

It works with CableNet as well.

I’ve got an 8 port Baylan switch.

CableNet goes into my PC ethernet Card.

On that same pc, there is a second ethernet card which connects to the switch.

And my laptop connects to the switch.

Host pc, (the one which has 2 lan cards is 192.168.0.1), but you can set it to any private network you like.

You also need to run the Internet Connection Sharing wizard on all pc’s which share the connection.

Pretty much plug 'n play.

yeah thanks i have laptop ad want to connect it wireless.

actually the main problem is the cable i have to take it with me every where and its connector breaks every 3 week so i am very of that and want to connect wireless

and my isp dont allow me to connect to router.

YES !! You are Absolutely Right !

Here the Average Price of market.

2 Lan Card = Rupess 100 - 200 max (used)

5 port switch = 500 - 700 max (new)

Interter Cable Wire = it depend the distance between your pc’s. normally it cost around 3 to 5 rupess per feet.
