PTCL provides Modem, NAT or Switch

Hello,

An awkward question is bugging me for some days.

Can some one please explain what to call the device PTCL provides to its DSL users

Shall it be called Modem ?? Bcz it mod/demodulates signals from Telephone line for LAN.

Shall it be called NAT ?? Because it translates external IP to private IP address i.e 192.168.*.*

Shall it be called a switch ?? Because by connecting more than one machine, we can do Home networking ??

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Regards,

Owais

It is a modem + router combo

Thanks Executionist.

Just searched about it and came to know it is a combo of router + switch + NAT and modem :)

It is a much smarter device than I thought it to be
