PTCL Evo Feedback Required?

#1

hey guys

i am thinking of buying PTCL's EVO connection..cuz i m gona be on the move in future..

so can you guys tell me if its really worth it..

i wana do basic browsing and some downloading, not much downloading...

so tell me about your PTCL EVO experience...

and also tell me if you get dedicated ip? or is it like VPTCL..?

by dedicate ip i mean that the ip i get is a real internet ip or a lan ip?

my main purpose is browsing.. so is it ok for browsing?

my location will be Faisal Town Lahore.. can any fella tell me whats signal strength there? indoors?

p.s. does it work on Windows 7 64bit ? do they have 64 bit drivers for the device?

#2

^it wont work on 64bit windows 7....works fine on 32 bit....

my experience is v good with evo so far :) never got speed below 1mbps...wht so ever..

#3

Evo is best for backup but if u used as 24 hour then it is not good for your health due to radiation it emits consistently.....if your location is above ground floor then it helps signals strengh......and if you have pack neighbourhood then it is hard to signals to come indoors in general

aw crap…

no 64bit drivers…

WC does have 64 bit drivers…

#5

^64 bit versions is monopoly set by INTEL to compete the market generating only X86 family architecture software.. :o

thats why i had to install X32 or X86 on my AMD Athlon 64.. :(

#6

since you don't have to download much, then why not use EDGE. Ufone has an unlimited monthly package for postpaid and Zong even has an unlimited package for prepaid

#7

in open u will get best within 2 kilometers

in home surrounding + 16 meters high it works wihin 800 meters

within homes surrounding it works only within 200 meters only

#8

i seem to have a very bad experience with this..

my download speed does not go above 120kb/s and usually stutters here in Quetta..

this is really annoying.. I spent like Rs. 6,000/- on this..

#9

Yes… i got in FAST…in CS

i know fast has a good wifi but i dont think it ll be available at my accomodation place…

its like about 600 meters away from FAST… so i ll hav to arrange some internet facility there…

rite now i borowed a WorldCall Wireless Broadband USB device from someone…

let see how it works…

plus where i m living there is a phone line too… so i ll try to get LDN there…

#15

yes you can try DSL, and instead of LDN i would recommend you PeeTCL, local cable wala’s also available here too (not recommended at all).

But i think you should go for EVO, its better to have a portable connection, and btw FAST’s wifi is good but NOT that much.

So get an EVO device from someone, try this sh!t if it works in ur living place, go for it.
