Ptcl Broadband Route Issues to Europe

Hey Guys - I was wondering if you could help me out with a little problem I'm facing. I game on my playstation 3 and europe is the best place for pings from pakistan. However check the following tracert to the main euro playstation site(this reflects my pings to european servers on ps3) . Is this because ptcl is routing all karachi based traffic through islamabad , pindi? Can anything be done about this? Thanks!

The final route your packets take are very likely decided at the PIE servers stage (Pakistan Internet Exchange) which basically serves as an aggregate of major internet backbones through which the large majority of private ISPs are bound. There's no real way to render packets that would force PIE to send you through one route versus another since it's routing tables are very likely managed internally. My general experience with every time PIE chooses Seabone (Telecom Italia) over other providers is poor latency level performance.

To your question if anything can be done about this? Unfortunately not. Unless of course you try out some other regional servers and see if they give better latency.

man ur router pping is also too high it shud be at <1ms

hey mantissa, I've tried other ptcl dns server's but no luck..even tried a ptcl karachi based server but no luck..all ptcl traffic gets rerouted to islamabad-pindi , even traffic that's originating and meant for karachi. Also, pings to the same site are between 150-200ms on maxcom and worldcall which also use the PIE network so I;m guessing this is because of a routing fault on ptcl's end?

@shoukat: pings to my router and modem are the 1st two hops and are within 1-3ms usually.

thats too high

Thanks but im not really concerned about that… <1ms or 1-3ms works for me…As long as my other problem gets sorted out…

use OPenDNS its works for me....

^ open dns wont help in this matter packet routes dont change when you change your dns server

yeah open dns doesn't make a difference
