PTCL 8 MB DSL Promotion (3k Per Month)

[quote=“Asad, post:18, topic:21172”]

PPS: What device is PTCL giving these days? Better to opt for their device or using some other one off the shelves/retail?

Their devices start choking when 3+ people connect to the WiFi.

Currently on 4mb usually gets 450 on torrent and 500+ on IDM , will my line support 8mb?

Its not the wifi I am concerned about. I am wondering if their device(s) will have headroom to support upgrade to higher speeds with the already available modulation options.

I just ordered this. From 4mbps to 8mbps. They also charge a one time upgrade installation charge of rs.1500

Waiting for line to update.

Fingers crossed

1500 + tax right? so you're looking at 3000 + 1500 (one time fee) + Tax

Yea something like that. Not sure abt tax but definitely taxes will be there

why 1500? aren't you already using 4mbps? all the they have to do is to change your port speed. or am I missing something?

As long as your line has good stats, you should be fine. even up to 16mbps.

I am using fiberhome 1020-25 modem for two years now and there are 5 wifi + 1 cable connections through it. and it works just fine as long I am not guzzling bandwidth at full through torrents.

But I think I might face modem over heating problem due to increased summer heat cause the modem is installed very close to the ceiling for max coverage and I live in a single story home..... :(

I dont think there are any installation charges for the current subscribers,i have opted to increase my line bandwidth my modem stats are also perfect with 4Mbps and 2Mbps extra for IPTV.Which is 7167 and 1092.

I am still not upgraded

I upgraded both my office and home connection.

  • Office has been upgraded (port has been upgraded and package also changed) but still getting speed of 3.5Mbps. Complained 4-5 times and still no resolution. Only a couple of times i got 6.5Mbps+ speed but then it reset the router and went back to less than 4.
  • Home connection - PTCL says it has been upgraded but the port is still at 4Mbps. No response to complaints.

Saying the same thing to me. Port is upgraded but device reflects and gives 4mbps

Now I am sure we will start getting the bills for 8 while getting 4 mb

I am a victim of this and this is just terrible. It will never be updated until you go to local exchange office and grab the person of your area. Keep calling him until it is done.

I just received the call from their DSL business manager, they were calling me from my home. Since I was at work, they accessed my home PC and examined the line parameters. We were simultaneously having a conference call b/w the manager, the technician at my home and me, they confirmed that I should have no problems upgrading to 8Mbps, and that it'll be done within an hour. He gave me his number and asked me to message him directly in case the upgrade hasn't been carried out when I try it.

That PTCL_Cares guy really is a force to be reckoned with :), wish there were more people like him in that organization. He definitely gets the job done, one way or the other
