Been there, done that.

You need to try this, before you go to PTA, since they will

also wish to know if you have really and honestly exhausted

all avenues with your exchange before coming to them.

01. Collect Data.

Keep a dated log of all your complaint #s on 1218. Make

screenshots of your modem stats (noise margin SNR,

attenuation and down/up stream) and speeds (done on

speedtest,ptcl.net) when your internet is really in the dumps.

02. Contact Exchange:

Armed with this data in hard-copy along with an application

made out to whoever is in-charge in your exchange, go talk

to the techs in the DSL Broadband section of your exchange.

Ask them if switching over to ONU fiber-optic line would help

your cause. If they tell you "yes", then proceed thusly.

03. In-Writing Application:

Now submit one copy of your application (detailing succinctly

all your suffering in chronological fashion, combined with the

details of your complaints and finally, the recommendation of

DSL section of switching to fiber-optic) to the One Stop Shop

of PTCL in your exchange. Ask them to stamp+sign+date

another copy of that application for you to keep, as "Received".

So What will happen ?. You will get switched to fiber-optic ONU

without having to pay anything to PTCL (because DSL section

has recommended it for you). Normally, PTCL charges you Rs.

750 for it. Furthermore, and more importantly, now you will have

deposited an undeniable, accurate and detailed history of your

PTCL broadband connection to your exchange, a copy of which

you retain yourself for future use, as and when you deem proper

(ie; PTA).

Fiber Optic poles are provided in specific areas of metro cities only.

It would be much better if a visit is made to exchange and meet the broadband manager. Issue would be resolve in a day or two and they will keep updating the status over phone.

its the easy and best way to get rid of such issues.

This is the first time I heared about the term "broadband manager"
Where can I find him ? OSS or exchange!

Regarding the fiber, I live in faisalabad city and will definitely ask if they have fiber in my area.

I feel that they dont have the capacity they are selling, its like selling something which does not exist. The only thing I have experinced is changed after upgrading to 4mb is my monthly bill but speed is still 1mb.

rockz brings up a good point, which I has ignored. I had

assumed that Bibo is a metropolitan dweller. If there are

white cabinets installed in your area, next to the regular

phone cabinets, then you might have the opportunity to

avail fiber optic connectivity.

By your last comment, it seems that you are in the fairly

early stages yet. Try putting (192.168.1.1) in your browser

URL and posting stats of your ADSL line here, if you can.

By seeing the different values of your network parameters

It would help determine which part of your broadband

set-up is the problem.

It may be that your profile hasn't been updated yet from

1MB to 4MB. It's a fairly common oversight from PTCL.

My exchange, for example, used to have a broadband

manager. Not any more. Now, the PTCL OSS customer

service reps take complaints. Visit your exchange and

ask for the broadband manager like rockz suggests. But

also start keeping written record of all your interactions

with PTCL reps.

and for the settings

All you need a lineman to change pairs from pole cabinet and exchange. and then move to bb manager sits in exchange. and ask him to change your line jumpers so you can have good snr and attainable downstream increases to atleast 10k+

I am unable to understand the reason of delay for resolving the complaint of my dead phone line due to which my DSL is also not working.

who will take action? why PTCL is not responding to it. complaint number 88 of 24-3-2014 was re-registered only because complaint no 20 of 23-3-2014 was deemed as resolved by the lineman.

I wonder how corrupt these workers are.
why cant he just walk in and resolve the issue and leave. the work for which he gets paid. but since the management is sleeping no one will ever know how the lower class is working.

RESOLVE MY ISSUE BEFORE I COMPLAIN TO PTA.

If all else fails, complain directly to @PTCLCares on twitter. That guy deserves a medal for the services rendered. I wish everyone in PTCL works like him.

Not only did he give a danda to both the lineman & exchange head of my area, they also changed my line+number completely free of charge, and keep calling me ever week to ensure everything works as intended.
