I hope that it is not the case because Worldcall EVDO price is Rs. 1200/month for 256 Kbps connection and some people with this package are saying that they even get download speeds upto 60-70 KB/sec which is dreat for a 256 Kbps. I get 50-55 KB/sec download speed on wired Micronot DSL connection of 512 Kbps.

I am sure PTCL Wireless Boradband packages would be much similar or better than WorldCall EVDO packages. Lets see December 1 is not far away. :)

#9

melleck, how is it possible to get 60-70 KB/sec on 256 Kbps connection??? Max one can get on it is 32 KB/second.

#10

I am also having high hopes with their wireless service , their DSL sucks because of lines structure else it isn't that bad either .

Joker, It’s a 256 Kbps (shared connection) which means you can have varying speeds. Not like wired DSL where speed is fixed and you will always get the same speed. For details plz go through below thread:

I am excited also to see what Tariffs PTCL is going to offer.

Who says speed is fixed on wired connections??? When they advertise 256kbps it means the maximum speed you will get will be 256kbps, you will not get beyond that. If one could get 512kbps speed (64KB/second) on 256kbps connection then why do they bother advertising different speeds for which you have to pay more money.

This is true for all sorts of Internet connections be wired or wireless & speeds vary on wired connections as well because they are shared too.

Melleck,Joker is right.

If one gets a 256k package he wont get speeds beyond 32KB.

Today i got 256kbps Worldcall EVDO. I prefer 256 because I dont have much to download. Got speed test result please let me know how it is?

I can understand the technical terms and concepts you are employing. Then, what you guys say about the above post (do see the speedtest result :)) on the following topic:

#16

if anyone is getting more than 32KBps on a 256 kbps connection, its a problem with the provider not capping speed effectively...

#17

Joker and MUFC4 no offence but plz do read my post again what i said is that "some people using the service are saying that they are getting these speed" I didn't said you should or you can.......:)

#18

^ They can't and you said they can since its not wired connection. Speed results are not very accurate from those websites. Anyway.

#19

^joker these evdo are configured in a way tha that the speed is a bit better than theoretical limit if the signal is good

#20

^ Give me a source for that.
