is this a virus? are u saying u there is no 'Folder Options' menu in windows explorer under Tools menu?

if thats the case the i think it is blocked through group policy editor.

open 'gpedit.msc' through RUN command, User Configuration>Windows Components>Windows Explorer. there is this 3rd option on the right, 'Remove Folder Options...' double click that. choose disable and ok. problem solved.

no brother actually i can access "folder options" from tools but problem is i already set that to "open each folder in same window" but it still opens in new one is that a virus or system error?

^i have no idea. looks like a virus to me.

i had same problem tried every antivirus but all in vain... ended up formating my c drive :)

Hmmm try once with Trojan remover!!! It will scan for trojans as well as default windows gruoup policies for any changes!!!!

heres what i am getting i mean it doesnt show any icons or menu list there :

I had the same problem, dont remember what I did :D

its not a virus or trojan really but a change made to his registry by the earlier infection

i tried all the metods , i wasnt able to modify the registry as it changes it values itself , i wouldnt able to trace this with any antivirus nod32 , kasper (tried every cleaner) , performed many diskchecks , at last i had to format completely the hard of my neighbour , bad news is i tried to clean her laptop via network scan from my workstation and its transfered to my main workstation , now i am strugling to remove it from my pc . i tried trojan cleaners too but no luck at all :(

i think i have to format my workstation too .........

If the computer has so many viruses maybe you should wipe the hard disk clean and re install the operating system.

Ahhh too bad !!! If you was going to format a infected HD then the back was nessasary but not on your workstation !!! Anyways I guess you have to format your HD too... Remember I asked you about some virus few days back and I'm with new fresh xp right now :D
