Pig Fat in Pakistani Chips!

I Received an email and i was shocked!

Please visit: http://alaiwah.wordpress.com/2009/03/06/pig-fat-in-pakistani-chips/ and share your thoughts.

Is it true? If it is then it's time to say good bye Lays!

@mods Please dont close this thread, it is important for us to know what we are eating.

^ bah use your brains people

one google search for E631 give me all the info i needed to prove this is utter crap

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disodium_inosinate

E631 is nothing but artificial salt

common sense FTW :D

Hazards of dumb people blogging (or even reporting news for that matter):

Panic and Chaos among similar people :D

Stop believing every retarded email you receive...

^but it is derived form pig fat...!!!!

I have also heard about it!!!!I am not yet confirmed...

EDIT:

E631 is animal-derivative salt indeed but it is not mentioned that it necessarily made of pig!!!!

However I have read on various health forums that we should avoid this as the source of these salts are not mentioned!!!!!

^ what part of artificial salt dont ppl get?

But it is nothing to make fuss about it!!!

Why do we all people have become so fussy...??????Creating fuss over every petty things(no offense intended)....

If it were from any animal, it would have been natural, not artificial.

http://www.exploreenumbers.co.uk/E-Numbers-with-Animal-Origins.html

simple line from above link:

" E631 Sodium 5’-inosinate – This comes from meat extracts and sardines."

Disodium inosinate can be made from Mineral sources, Fungal, Vegetable, Or from meat/fish. To say that it is only made from Pig fat is just stupid. I just wish luck for the patients who go to the doctor who "researched" this.

are u sure it’s artifical salt…???

as according to FDA,artificial salt cant be derived from vegetables or animals!!!

If things keep going like this, then I won't be surprised if someone labelled the air "around" a Pig as Haram as well, as a tiny amount of that also came out from the Pig.

Hmm... Pretty negative thoughts... Well... atleast i wont be eating Lays anymore, i mean there are ALOT of other brands available in Pakistan. :)

All of them have “salts” and they don’t even bother listing the E number, so … :P

People need to conduct more research about this topic. Western countries wont mention exclusively "pig fat" to deliberately provoke Muslim population. Instead they would use the word "animal fat" to dispose of in a more subtle way.

Pringles also uses this same animal fat, better to research yourself. This topic is controversial/doubtful so its better to avoid such things until proven right/wrong.

Cheers
