Open DNS (Experience and Configuration)

I was going through some posts and came to know about open DNS service. I want to use it. Can anyone please share their experience about open DNS and secondly explain where should i place the settings on my shiro DSL modem or on my Linksys router.

OpenDNS is ok. It is helpful if you want to restrict the sites that can be viewed on your internet connection.

To use it, use the openDNS nameserver addresses in place of your ISP's DNS server addresses. The setting should be somewhere in your router's web interface.

Alternatively, you can use the same addresses in the DNS fields of TCP/IP properties.

about router, may be it helps choosing linksys from https://www.opendns.com/enterprise/start/router/

and exactly as Asad said. you can configure it in TCP/IP settings.

I use Maxcom DSL at home, switched over to OpenDNS a long time ago, works well.

talking about experience , i found Level3 better than OpenDNS's

4.2.2.1-6, and resolver1.level3.net (or resolver2.level3.net) are the Level3 DNS servers. I'm using TW1's DNS servers, and they do the job quite well!
