NOD32 Freeware Alternative

Is there a freeware alternative NOD32?

What do you use?

there is Avast and AVG Free, both are quite good alternatives

problem with keys..there are many sites available for the keys of nod32 and these are working..

I am using all of those!!!

I'm trying to find alternative to/buy cracked softwares and you're referring to find keys. :D

Avast is good but not as good as nod32 or kaspersky. why you wanna use alternative for nod32.?

I have Nod32 fix that I dwnloaded frm the internet free

It makes ur nod32 expire in 2050

Ok, plans changed. :D

I'll buy NOD32 in April 2009 unless there is a better offer. :P

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

Get legal and free edition from original website: http://free.avg.com/

This is legal and freeware edition of AVG Anti-Virus. I am currently using this free edition in 2 of my computers and I have also installed this on my friend's laptops.

Give it a try. It's good.

But remember, in these days, you don't just want to rely on Anti-Virus. That's why, get a firewall too.

Comodo Firewall Pro - Freeware

Get legal and free edition from original website: http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

This firewall is totally free and legal. This is awesome. You'll not believe that you are getting a commercial level firewall for free. I highly recommend you to use this firewall along with AVG Free.

After Anti-Virus and Firewall, you need a good Anti-Spyware software.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Freeware

Get legal and free edition from original website: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

I use this anti-spy on all of my computers. In fact, I installed this anti-spyware on my brother, cousins, friends and dozens of computers when someone complain me about spies. This anti-spy does actually work.

=================

These three freeware are must for any computer you connect to internet. Keep them up-to-date all the time. At least once in week, manually update them so that you have current versions and scan your computer with them.

Good luck and do tell me what do you think of these softwares.

You could try using Kaspersky. I switched to this.

Why? Well - I'm on dialup, and NOD kept asking me to download a 10MB update. I got sick of doing it, so I reverted back to Kaspersky (and that's what I've been doing for the last... umm... 3 years! I keep switching back and forth)

Anyway, there's a trick to reset the trial of Kaspersky softwares (6 onwards, as far as I'm concerned). As I don't want this forum to be a keygen-sharing place, all I'll suggest is that you Google it.

Oh - and for some unknown reason, Kaspersky scans more files than NOD - but at the same time, it suffers from a slightly greater false-positive rates. And as far as the application integrity control is concerned - it's quite irritating, I must say.

Let me sum it up for you:

NOD:

Pros: firewall, scanning engine (it's got a history), size

Cons: doesn't scan all files (although that's pretty much made up for while running the resident scanner)

Kaspersky (the internet security version):

Pros: scans many types of files/exes etc, application integrity controller

Cons: false-positives are slightly higher, firewall stinks (literally, including other components like IM scan, HTTP scanner etc... I've uninstalled those components but left the firewall on... SOME protection is better than none).

Hope this helps you in making your decision.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware adds real-time protection feature to the software only if you buy it. :(
