Has anyone played final fantasy 13 on console? how is that game? i have never played any FF game before.. and its 55Gb of ultra slow torrent.

^ I dunno about the original version but i intend to play the PC version, I'll give you my comments about it then.

One thing i can tell you for sure though is that it's a piss-poor console port. There's absolutely no graphic changing options. It plays at 720p (although the guy who fixed Dark Souls has also released a resolution unlock mod for it).

It was likely, but a official confirmation is always good to hear. Although I'm not interested in Unity, i do indeed want to play Rogue, you know being a templar and all that... Besides, it's supposed to conclude the Kenway storyline or something like that.

A lot of things were said during the presentation, there was a Game Architect, an Online Programmer, and a person from HR.

During the presentation, the Online Programmer said that just before they release a game, they have to send a copy to console manufacturers, which then tell them what to keep and what to throw away (sooo yeah Watch Dogs maybe ?).

The Game Architect said that they aim for 60 fps but due to "limitations", they have to settle for 30 fps in recent games. He then implied thatconsole makers are pressuring them into doing the same thing on PC.

The HR rep said that managers are former programmers and can sometimes be interns. But people are always managed by someone who could do their job.

Not asked, but worth mentionning :

The Game Architect said that they try to re-use code as much as possible. So that's maybe what happened with the AI in Watch Dogs which was taken from AC.

"Are you aware of the negative response to the recent decision to lock your games (like AC:Unity) into 30 frames per second? If so, what do you think about that?" u/TwinDragonsOfChaos

I asked this question at the end of the presentation, everyone laughed. The Game Architect said that on consoles, and for this type of game, they have to chose between graphical fidelity and smoothness. He implied that MS is making them lock the framerate on PC too. Then, he smiled, said "But our eyes can't see past 24 fps anyway" and winked at me.

"Then maybe ask about the impact of AI on these APUs in the consoles."

They said they have to use Microsoft's cloud instead of the APU to do the AI in certain games due to hardware limitations.

"You can also ask what is the preferred platform to develop for."

PC, because they have to use specific languages and debuggers for each console and then validate the game with the constructor.

"You should ask them if they get any say in what the PR people are telling us."

They don't. Clearly the two engineers were no peasants, but they were asked questions they could not answer. He only implied that there were hardware limitations all over the place. And his wink when he told me that 24fps was all we needed confirmed that.

"Do people who work for Ubisoft have mobility ? Can they work abroad if they want or change their career path ?" (question from a classmate)

Yes, engineers can become managers and vice-versa, they can also fill openings in other studios, or change teams.

@hatred.. even if ESRB alllows its release with A or atleast M rating, parents will be going crazy if it even gets nominated..

@ubisoft.. even though they still make one of the best games, their QA has been subapr this 2014 and they have appologized for it publically and free upgrades and gifts to buyers.

hopefully they will release lesser titles with more solid QA in 2015.

Checked out the following games:

Far Cry 4

Thief
Dragon Age Inquisition

FC4 is pretty similar to FC3. The graphics may be improved (or at least the new terrain makes it seem that way), there are some new gameplay elements, but overall it feels really similar to FC3. Basically it's a fun game, but I don't feel any urge to play it.

I've never played any of the older Thief games, so that might be the reason why I'm actually liking it rather than complaining like most fanboys. It has it's obvious similarities with Dishonored, but it has it's own soul & concept which makes it original.

DAI, now this is something. I am one of the few people who liked both DAO & DA2, so it was already likely that i would enjoy the next iteration, but i must say this game exceeded my expectations. First of all, the graphics are gorgeous, which is something we don't see too often with RPGs. The story has it's charm, the characters are interesting, and the Bioware specialty of dialogue choice relevancy (and romances later to be seen as i continue to play), are all as good as ever.

More comments to come when/if i finished the games. Maybe even a review if i'm in the mood for it.

If you had actually played the original Thief, then you would understand why the new thief was dissed. It was once again a compromised affair. If you liked the new Thief, then you should give a try to Thief Gold, fortunately, it was recently updated for modern hardware support, which makes it pretty much playable on anything present. So, i finished Far Cry 4. I must say I'm impressed by the Ending. Best one from Ubisoft since AC:Revelations...

The game itself was ok. It was the usual Ubisoft type game with a lot of repetitive tasks, there was much to be explored but it wasn't rewarding, the characters were the type you couldn't care less about (i must admit, Pagan Min was a fine 'villain', much more original than the predictable psychopath in FC3), the story was the meh type with a few sprinkles of interest coming from Pagan's backstory.

For me personally, Pagan's character saved this game otherwise i may have abandoned it in the middle. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, depending on your preferences, it might even be your favorite game from last year, because for what it is, it is probably a good game, and certainly more interesting than it's predecessor.

I give it a decent 6.5/10!
