Though the internal antenna works fine but to adjust the RSSI to your likings there are external antennas which works with EC360. You need to dismantle the original antenna in order to plug the new antenna via SSMB connector, e.g:

If you're living in Karachi, check the co-opertaive market & Abdullah Haroon road (back side of mobile market)

You can find these antennas over there:

Cell panel antenna, they call it booster antenna for PTCL in the co-operative market.

Yagi Antenna

Keep in mind that you need an adaptor cable since these antennas contains the TNC connector while EC360 requires the SSMB jack to plug into the antenna port. Hence you require Female TNC to SSMB cable.

Yes they will work with eVo, the yagi can even work with worldcall. Before buying any antenna please make sure on what frequency does it work. Evo uses 800mhz CDMA and 1900mhz PCS frequencies, in Karachi it works on 800mhz for EVDO it may not be the same in your city. As for attaching them to your USB, you need to mention the model of your USB dongle.

@OP

Try this neat trick. Works in many cases:

Except Peshawar, the frequency is kept same everywhere for PTCL Evo, Vfone. So, no need to worry about if you do not live in Peshawar.

Evo device (Rev A) has a port for attaching external antenna located at one side of the device. Here, in this port, you can attach any external antenna using SSMB jack, whose picture is posted above by Unlettered.

Hello All,

Can the sim slot on the PTCL PCMCIA EC360 EVDO(EVO) Device can be used to access edge/gprs internet, i know its 3g but asking just in case??

#16

No, The device is Network Locked. You can not use other companies SIM to access any internet service. The slot is provided actually for UIM card which is an extension for Evo service, I mean after inserting UIM card, you become able to make call, and SMS via Evo connection.
