i want to buy wirless router mixmuim range 10km

any one selling or give me contact number any shop to buy from it...

#2

Dream on. Nothing like this exists for regular / normal use. Regular WiFi is basically short range communication only.

#3

Possible but probably not legal.

Range 10 KM; it is clear, you want to start business. If this is true, you must have to take license from PTA as such long range is not consumer scaled but commercial.

That`s basically outdoor antenna ! not a wireless device… he cannot get any Wireless device for 10km! or he have to wait for some or maybe many years! :P:D!

long range wifi equipment is extremely glitchy, rarely works unless you're broadcasting in a area where there are no buildings or trees for that matter. the 2.4ghz spectrum is extremely susceptible to signal noise, although the 5ghz wifi spectrum is considerably better in long range solutions.

#14

^ You would need way more power on 5.8GHz compared to 2.4GHz to go the same distance.

check this:

#16

According to experiments, 5 GHz frequency is the cause of more glitches than 2.4 GHz at low power. That's why 2.4 GHz has been made standard for Wi-Fi. 5 GHz frequency is very high and at high power, it would become dangerous for transmission in populated areas.

(WiMax services are running at different frequencies in the world, 2.4 GHz - 3.5 GHz. Wateen and Wi-tribe Pakistan both uses 3.5 GHz frequency. Visit wimaxforum.org)

AirMAx Devices are good at long range.. 5ghz will work good at 10KM

#18

^ tell em only those devices which he can get easily in pakistano he can not go UK or US for just an wifi router

#19

It is definitely possible. Questions:

1. Commercial or personal use? If commercial then you'll need a licence from PTA first. If strictly personal eg. extending internet access to a village outside normal coverage for your own use, my opinion is that you dont require any licence for that.

2. You need point-to-point wifi comms or blanket coverage in 10km radius?

3. Point-to-point wifi comms are possible with directional antennas and specific hardware. Spider Magazine, almost in every issue, hosts adverts of companies selling such hardware.

first of all a 10km range for personal use is just useless..

and secondly it can be done.... you'll need a good access-point (i say access point because i dont think normal home routers will support more than one repeater) and 4-5 cheap ones that have the "repeater" capability... set them up to increase the range of your basic router and viola...
