I need to edit an MP3 audio file. Basically I want to extract middle portion of a song. Please let me know how to do it?

I second the Audacity recommendation - its a great free open source program that can do what you want. To export the edited file as an mp3, you’ll need the LAME encoder, which you have to download from a separate location. Instructions for installing Lame are here.

Yes, it does support .wma files. And thanks wzub for pointing out the Lame encoder requirement.
