GTX260 vs 4870

Which is better?

INNO3D GeForce PCX GTX260 896MB 448 BITS DDRIII I-CHILL

XFX RADEON PCX 4870 1GB 256 BITS DDR5

They are both priced at PKR.17000

The Radon is overall better than the gtx260

Gtx 260 is better than 4870....google benchmarks and reviews for verification...but IMO inno3d isnt a good brand...go for xfx or evga gtx260

I found this on Tom's Hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-4870,1964.html

GTX260 beatas 4870 in benchmark test

I read sumwhere that 4870 is gud for high resolution and Anti-Aliasing

Picked up from Guru3d

Note 4870 is 512MB not 1GB

GTX260 is better than 4870

I don't know why, but sites like bitTech, and Guru3D keep recommending 4870. Why?

They say benchmarks are nearly the same,

They say 260 has good folding

They say 260 has physX

But still they recommend 4870

Why? I am bit confused?

Benchmarks are not nearly the same, in some gtx260 leads by up to 13fps

but still, I am gonna find out more why they recommend 4870

PRICE!!!

The 4870 (still) gives you the best ‘bang’ for the buck. It’s price to performance ratio was better than the gtx260 back then since the gtx260 was for $299 while the 4870 was for $199 or something.

When the 4870 came out, it was nearly as good as the gtx280 (which retailed for $399 back then) and blew away the gtx260 at a much cheaper price. Nvidia saw this and a few months later, came out with the new gtx260 216, which now had 216 stream processors, to better compete with the 4870.

^

so, it means the gtx260 is better than 4870, the reason why different websites are recommending 4870 is because of price?

but here price is same..so gtx260 is better option to go for

^you said Inno3d no good, is it?

Does it give same performance as other companies?

We've gone for the Radeon HD 4870 1GB alone this month because we've found one with an aftermarket cooler (very important for noise concerns!) for under £110. Don't be fooled by cheap GTX 260s - these are 65nm 192 core, not 55nm 216 core, which retail for over £130 now. That's still a very good buy, but it's just the Radeon is better.......

The performance difference between the HD 4870 and GTX 260-216 is negligible, although naturally varying slightly from game to game. The only thing that really separates them is the GTX 260’s better folding performance and the inclusion of PhysX, but this only has limited game support right now.

What do you think?

They are only talking about the price

Frm, all the benchmark tests we have seen, gtx 260 is better than 4870

@deffury

well inno3d gtx 260 is based on 192 stream processors whereas xfx gtx260 provides 216 stream processors..so there is some performance difference...

The 216 stream processor is special OC version and they must cost more than 20K+

Hey guys Check this, Must see:

This is from galaxy.pk:

This is from inno3D site:

Notice the stream processors?

Weird isn't it?

There are 2 versions of the 260.. the older one had 192 and the new one has 216..............
