Generator buying advice

as the topic says it all

mods if its in a wrong section plz move it to proper section

im looking for a chinese genset so plz dnt suggest me honda yamaha or 660cc car engines modified into gensets

my budget is max max 1 lac ... for a genset which is capable enough to run an AC

i did some searching in the market n the options i saw were

1. Homage 6kva 72k, 6.5kva 85k

2. Magma Max 6.5kva 85k

3. Loncin 6kva 75-85k i cant remember its correct price

4. JD or some thing in same price bracket ...

i was personally looking for Jasco but it seems not available or couldnt see in local market in pindi or havent seen enough shops

why im not in favour of jap genset well ist they r twice my budget ... n since ive not bought anything yet so i am getting advices from as many sources as possible what best i can do with my budget cause not every one can afford honda in 2lac plus ...

i saw many threads here also n in each threads the advices given r from self point of view ... like if someone is suggesting something he is suggesting looking at his own pocket ... jaisay ghareebon kay liye HP nay probooks banai hain usi tarha ghareebon kay liye chinese nay b kuch na kuch banaya hoga lol

i mean its a mechanical equipment ... it has to fail one day another ... ive seen chinese gensets working flawlessly in shops in our local market not every shop owner owns a honda most r running their ACs on Chinese gensets ... khair if someone has any insight on how to run such low end mechanical equipment with care then plz suggest some solution which is workable for me ...

Such an honest true post, made me emotional..:(

will let others reply first.. in a hurry.. just saying, i really appreciate your honesty about pockets price and chinese equipement.. Bravo..

go for lonsin

Based on personal / family member's experience, I would suggest Orient's OES Power P6000 (6KVA, Gas + Petrol, with starter motor) for around 92-95K at Metro.

The advantage is spare parts + after sales support which is less likely with other brands. I have personally purchased parts after about 15 months of use.

from our discussion at one of another thread it seems that genereators above 2.5kva will face starting problem so one will need a compressor for it .. now the bitter reality is that one of my friends relatives got killed due to explosion of this compressor .. infact two are killed and a score of others are hurt badly ..

also it do legalize it fron sngpl ..

regarding companies loncin is best .. its among the largest small engine manafacturer in the world ..

^ THIS....!!!

unless you can have availability of parts of anything you buy, there is always extreme risk especially when buying expensive equipment. even if a 20rs belt breaks and you cant find one, your 10 lac generator will be useless without it.

instead of focusing on brands, main focus should always be on service and availability.

Chinese brands have more part available now than any other brand, since they are cheap, and readily available from he neighborhood china.

as per care, every machine comes with a proper instruction manual, which includes step by step installation and maintenance on daily basis.. that is where machines start to fail when there is no proper maintenance.. if it is engine based, it will require regular mobile oil level check and replacement, air filter cleaning and preventing choking in any pipes.. similarly pure gas gen have their own maintenance routines,

the other major MAJOR problem people ignore is the quality of wiring and connectors.. if there is even a minor loosening, there will be sparks and if there are sparks, no matter how small, the gen will die soon.. quality cabling and solid connectors ensures your machine runs as smooth as manufacturer intended.

PS: if you absolutely must have a CNG generator, make sure there is probability of running on petrol as well... sngpl has declared CNG gen illegal so you can always run it or hide your gas connection on a chappa.. and still be able to run on petrol; if they cut your gas connection..

Baber,

Just for my info, how much does a 660cc based genset cost these days and where is it available in Pindi. I ask because I want to fabricate one for myself and would like to take a look at the mounting system arrangement plus find out about the Governor.

Your research would give me a much appreciated lead which will save me time. Besides I can share the stuff here for others, for whatever value it may add to their own endeavours.

You can try a buffer tank without any compressor. It adequately addresses the starting issues.

Well tha ka a lot guys

I was back to wiredpakistan like after 2 yrs ...

N thanks guys for ur advices

The point of asking these questions is

I have a homage distributor right next to my colony

For Loncin the guys r in city saddar road ie like a half an hour drive in this weather

We live in apartments so I need a close by repairs support which I can get from homage guy

Moreover seeing their website they r offering generator sets with ATS ... Which is also a plus point (but no idea how good is that ATS)

But if Loncin is tad bit better than homage then I can opt for it ...

Loncin also comes with ATS in about 95k for a 6.5kva

About the gas issues well thanks for ur all inputs ... Will definitely get back to you guys for better n workable options

Pretty new thing for me :) all this gensets running on gas lol

Plz keep sharing ur views n plz if there is any better option in ur mind plz do share like what best I can do with my 100k

@farhan_ds @all others who have posted thanks again

About 660cc modified gensets I've not searched for them as there is no space for them in my flat n also it's weight is impossible to even transport it to my floor

But I saw a hydal made from same dynamo motor in northern areas in a house on a stream free electricity for that lucky guy :)

Also for any villagers having a tractor u can couple ur tractor shaft which is used to run the attachments at ye back with that motor n can generate electricity using ur exhausting tractor ... Dynami motors or what my mechanics used to call it AVR motor ... Is oretty stable thing we had a Peter engine assembly 15kva genset of diesel in which my mechanic attached a dynamo/AVR motor to a Peter engine n it was very economical very low fuel consumption n quite powerful ... It was like 1.5-2lit per ht ... So if uhave big space or an isolated compound n a servant muscular enough to kick start Peter engine than tht is best solution :) we had a dedicated person on our generators so it worked fr us at our project sites ...

Homage with ATS

so no further help for me ... or ur enjoying rain :)

your Novel provides an idea that your neighbor would be a reliable choice since he can give you better after sales service which may not be possible with your distant friend. this will be very helpful as long as he is your neighbor and also on goo terms with you..

seems like the appropriate choice..
