Etisalat purchasing PTCL?

I have heard from some sources that Etisalat is purchasing PTCL? Any news?

Happened 6 years ago: http://archives.dawn.com/2005/12/21/top5.htm

But I heard they are purchasing PTCL again.

Who owns it now?

Etisalat owns only 26% of PTCL.

there are news that Etisalat is trying to negotiate and buy more shares....

so that means they are taking over?

Yeah ,we deserved it !

We need to privatize almost every institution now. Railways, PIA, Wapda and PTCL too although currently, PTCL aint doing so bad

On the other hand, if government takes responsibilities seriously like developed countries, there will be no need for privatization at all. Privatization is a good thing but not for everything. Instead, products and services of private companies should be promoted to bring the best for the country. Privatization of governmental properties mostly brings inflation. Transports, communication sources, electricity, etc become expensive, and unaffordable for poor. On the other hand, promoting private companies bring competition in the market which leads to delivering better products and services for the people. But if the privatism leads to monopoly, the ultimate effect is privation, inflation, fluctuation and poor outcome.
