Dual Core System

#1

Hi Guyz,

I am planning to buy a new system. As my normal activitees are surfing, watching movies and games.

And my office work (Oracle) can easily be manged on P4 system.

So i have decided to Buy Intel E2160 1.80Ghz Dual Core Processor with INNO3D Nforce 630i motherboard , 2 GB DDRII Ram.

As INNO3D Nforce 630i motherboard contains good onboard graphics, and its Vista (Aero) ready .

Wat u guyz say its a good choice or should consider something else.

Thanx in advance.

well bro im almost runnin ur dream machine :) c2d 2.2 e4500 xfx nforce 630i n 2gb ddr2 a normal casing cause i was short on money ... plz do check processor details b4 u buy any c2d .. as e4500 is the smallest kid in c2d family with 65nm archetect ... wat i suggest go for c2d (core 2 duo) get a gud strong motherboard compatable with future resources ... i say get E4500 2.20Ghz (2MB CACHE - 800 MHZ FSB) pretty decent processor under 8.5k ... where as E2160 1.80Ghz (1MB CACHE - 800 MHZ FSB) is gone case :) .. mobo ur planin is the best budget performance mobo at this time i guess as u can get basic graphics enough for few hungry games ... but mind it 7100 nvidia is just direct x 9 n shader 2 i guess n these days games r of very high specs like directx 10.1 shader 4 n physicx something ... so with such a board ull perforce have to upgrade ur graphics so i suggest get an intel chipset board of any company like asus or msi or gigabyte ... n go for a decent gpu ... if budget is ur issue then nvidia 8600 suits u (under 6.5k) so all in all ...

Processor = 8400

ram = 2400

gpu = 6500

mobo = DG31PR for rs 5800 or P5KPL-VM for Rs. 5100 (Both have onboard graphics)

plus casing n sata2 hard disk u can make a decent system under 30k ...

but if budget is not ur issue then go for best tat u can get :) .. but stay away from n630i solutions ... get a gud board which has overcloskin potential .. read articels about them in here or on xbitlabs or same kinda other websites n make ur self wise

E2160 is not so bad, and it has immense overclocking potential. However, I suggest you to buy e4400 or e4500.

yes u r right, Core 2 duo is faster, as Dual core is old. but i am talking about basic computng, don"t need any high speed, satisfied with my P4 2.4, but buying new one to get somewhat better graphics and Windows Vista Aero Interface.

Dats why i am thinkin of Intel Dual Core E2160 with INNO3D Nforce 630i motherboard.

Anywayz can anybody tell me wat graphics card does Intel D945GCPE have. Does it support Vista Aero Interface ???

well all u wana do is to run vista on p4 ... get a graphics card ... u can get a decent cards under 3k which will run seamlessly n they will support vista aero too ... invest on ram n graphics card ... no need to all together change ur system n by the way in general computing ull hardly feel any difference in ur p4, core duo or even core2duo e4500 ... they separate each other in heavy computing tasks like encoding videos or mp3z ... but if u want an upgrade .. go for c2d of higher family ... e6XXX or e8XXX ... as upgrading from p4 to core duo is hardly an upgrade ... THINK AGAIN :)

more over goto http://www.galaxy.com.pk/price.htm and check prices for AGP cards ... im not sure if any cheap AGP card supports Aero ... ist try installing vista on ur computer n post here ur base score then some one out of us can suggest u the right UPGRADE ;)

note one thing im using tat 630i chipset board with 7100 gpu on board n guess wat im getting 3.0 base score all due to BAKWAS graphics card .. my processor has 5.3 rating ram 4.7 hard disk 6.2 n just cause of graphics 3.0 my base score is so low so its better to buy such card for AGP which may support or is abnle to run AERO of vista ... okay .. have i helped u or made u more confuse :)

options:

GeForce AGP 7300GT 512MB (128BITS) rs 4400

ATI AGP 9600XT 256MB (128-BITS) Rs. 3900

ATI AGP X1550256MB IFAN 128BITS DDRII Rs. 4450

I already have Vista installed on my system.

Here are base scores.

Processor = 3.8 , Ram=4.5, Graphics=1.9, Gaming Graphics=1.0 ,Hard Disk=3.5 (its an old 30 GB) I"ll change it.

But problem is that when system is idle, System still consumes 60% RAM shown in Vista meters. And my Board doesn’t support more than 1GB of RAM.

And no Vista Drivers for my Intel Board.

Now wat u say now ???

A dedicated GPU is the way to go, however, I have a Subscore of 4.0 on gaming graphics and 4.1 on graphics (for aero), when using an intel GMA 3000 on-board graphics, integrated with my Asus P5B-MX-Wifi mainboard. Not all on-board graphic chipsets have to be that bad. :)
