Doctors on Strike - What a Pity

As per news doctors in Punjab get more salaries then other provinces. Salaries starts from Rs. 28,000/-. Were they not aware of this salary scale while they joined in? They and demanding 200% raise which is ridicules.

They are not attending patients and on strike, no matter patients suffer or die, it does not make any difference to them.

Isnt it like hijacking or blackmailing, they should not be called Doctors and their licensed should be cancelled.

could you also tell us how much it cost ie. for one child to get educated in class 3rd or 4th in so called "middle class" school like beacon house?

whole monthly package.

1- school tuition.

2- private tutor.

3- after school and in school extracurricular activities costs like picinic trips, school functions etc

4- school transportation cost.

5- and so on

No one cares if innocents die. Neither govt. nor strikers. Just some days ago lady health workers blocked a road which resulted in death for some people who got stuck in traffic.

I agree. Demand for 200% pay raise is ridiculous. Good thing govt. is firing the criminals on strike.

Didnt they know their exact package at the time of appointment. At that time they should have decided which school they want their kids to go. If it was like that there was a reduction in their salaries and they are protesting now, there could be a logic for protest.

There is no justification for a doctor to let a person die or unattended while present at the scene. Its criminal by itself.

If any of their relatives comes to the hospital, will they not attend because of strike? and let him die coz they are not getting the salaries they want.

There can be many other ways to protest, leave patients unattended is something I just cannot imagine. To me, this is horrible.

Doctors in Punjab, after completing a 5 years course of study,

get paid Rs. 18,000/-.

In Karachi, the mistri who does plaster work for us gets

Rs. 18,000/-. Mistris can learn their trade in a few months.

A guy with a two year MBA earns 4 times as much, start-

ing out, whose primary job is to sit and do BS all day long.

The YDA rep Nasser was saying last night that he has to

ask his father for loan every month since they run out of

money on the 20th and sometimes asks his wife to get

money from his father-in-law, so that they can cover their

household expenses.

That. . . is not right.

The doctors have been trying to sort this out through

dialogue with the Punjab bureaucracy for the last year and

a half. When they ran into a tin ear, they slowly had to

up the ante.

Doctors all over Pakistan should be paid salaries commensurate

with the time and effort that goes into their work. Especially

at a time when we are fighting several wars and taking dozens

of casualties every day that need to be cared for, within the

meager means and facilities at the disposal of our health

professionals.

It should never have come to this. The doctors were even willing

to compromise (and had done so with Latif Khosa) for a meager

raise in their salaries (20-30K) but the Punjab Govt saw this as

their weakness and reneged on their promise. This whole thing

has been badly mismanaged by Sharif Bros, just like the Raymond

Davis case. And one expected so much more from them, than the

Federal Govt.

They should be paid more, agreed and no discussions for that.

They leave patients and let them suffer to death..... That..... is not right..... no matter what.

^^^ hey man you are selling macbooks to netbooks, look i don't wanna be greedy here so i am not gonna ask you for high end macbook, so i'll simply ask you as your fellow muslim brother to give me low end netbook for free?

please tell me when should i pick up my free netbook from you, i am free tonight and tomorrow....

its punjab govt creating the situation and not doctors.

All the emergencies in Govt. hospitals are open and run by teaching class Senior most doctors. The deaths being reported is a norm for hospitals, infact they are being reported less, there are patients which no one can save, but only make their last few hours/days pain free …

So where do these young doctors fit in? They fit in because they are young, can work long hours like 54 hours continuous, they provide quality treatment because this is there profession, are getting trained to be specialist because there is great need for these doctors in our country.

^^ I decline to give you free netbook... will you die? no.

Feel the pain of the person whose some loved one has passed away, doctors were there, a whole bunch of them, but refused to attend the patient.

one thing they must have to do increase their salaries or reduce inflation (reduce fuel prices 92 to 35Rs)

@all who told you to elect Nawaz bang bros have you not tried them before?

Medical Officer Salary : 28,000/-

Post Graduate Trainee: 22,500/-

House Job Officer : 18,000/-

They do not need to be a mistri to earn more then their salaries, how much doctors earn from their private clinics, we all are aware of.

Yes, their salaries should be raised, i am not discussing on whether it should be raised or not, but boycott for the treatment has no excuse what so ever.

you have double standards

- in your chosen profession you don’t want to part with 30k netbook for free. no matter what even for fellow muslim brother.

- and what right you have to ask someone in other profession than yours ie doctors to do something for free. and on top reading your last line tells me you are using “emotions” as weapon to get doctors do stuff for free. very hypocritical of you indeed.

No, I dont have any sort of double standards, what I am doing for my fellow brothers, regardless of the religion, I do not need to advertise here and thats not the topic as well.

When someone dies, a human being does get emotional. Thats natural not hypocritical.

Exactly dude Beaconhouse is not middle class. Even the upper-middle class goes to Educators, which has much much lower standard than Beaconhouse. Beaconhouse is for those just under the elite category.

Get out of ur little world Lower class can barely afford schooling for their kids in our society.

In no other country there is a concept of private practice. It started here for the same reason as well i.e. meager salary. The young doctors do not do any private practice, they cannot as they are doing so much duties in govt hospitals they do not have time left for anything else. And the current demands are for pay raise of these young doctors only. Earlier doctors did demanded for pay raise for all 8 cadres but due to the same private practice thing and pressure from private practising doctors they have lowered there demands for pay raise to only House office, Medical officer, Postgraduate resident and Senior registrar.

^ Are they forced to continue their jobs, they can resign and open a Private clinic and charge whatever they want. 3/4 doctors can open a clinic jointly.

Already a number of doctors who have been hired means there are many other who are ready to work on the same salary.

This is not a good scenario, this is bad, this should be revised, I agree, but letting a person die. No, justification whatsoever....

@kamran1x1: You're equating a netbook with a life as if life is a luxury item. Also, it costs doctors nothing to help out another human being, in this case you're asking iconsourcing for about 30k.

I agree, their salaries are low, but if they stop working and let people die, they might as well be murderers themselves, they knew the terms of their employment including their salary before they accepted their jobs. If they're not happy, they should either try to renegotiate (in a way that does not include people dying just so they could prove their point) or quit and find themselves a better job, that's how the world works. The only reason they would not be able to find a job is if they're not worth that much.

It costs about 7-10k to get a 3rd-4th grade child educated in Beaconhouse (which is closer to the high-end, not middle class by any means).

School Tuition: 6-7k

Private Tutor: Irrelevant (and if you send your kid to a private tutor in 3rd grade, you're just wasting money)

Picnic Trips/School Functions: Irrelevant (only happen once or twice a year)

School Transportation costs: 1-3k depending on how far you live, mileage of your car and whether you use petrol or CNG.
