I am a fan of Dell LCDs, but this particular Dell model which

happens to be the latest one, has not gotten good reviews.

The most glaring issue is the brightness levels. It's only 250

candles, when the standard in brightness levels is at least

300 candles these days. Brightness is big deal, esp in larger

models like this one.

The HP model has a faster response time (3 ms) although it

is not clear if the Dell response time is measured Gray-2-Gray

or On-Off. It could be that there isn't any difference on that

count. HP's pixel pitch is slightly better (.265) to Dell's (.277)

which means a sharper picture, but not a whole lot. However,

you will lose an inch in real estate with the HP.

I would choose neither of these models, but if somebody put

a gun to my head... I would say go with the HP, for brightness

sake alone. When you're working with 16:9 ratios, another inch

added to 23" (which comes to less than 1/2" in width) is neither

here nor there.

Dell Home has had their Dell ST2410 24-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor for $10 cheaper, but that deal is no more. But they still have it for a good deal considering the usual retail price. This monitor boasts a 1920×1080 resolution, 5ms response, 250 cd /m2 brightness, 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and DVI/VGA/HDMI inputs.

is acer an good company for lcds ? plz tell me

#6

well i personally have a Hp LCD so i would also suggest you as well to go for it only.

#7

Well personally speaking I'll be buying Dell ST2410 next month if its available if not then Dell ST2310 from Galaxy.

Dell products are better compared to the Hp ones in my opinion.

Screen size at Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP is quite larger with its 24" than HP L1706 with 17". Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP lcd monitor has better maximum screen resolution - 1920x1200, in contrast to 1280x1024 at HP L1706.

Since HP L1706 maybe doesn't have good pixel response time with its 12 perhaps you might notice some ghost when scrolling .

Picture on both monitors could be very bright (450 cd/m2 at UltraSharp 2407WFP and 300cd/m2 at L1706). UltraSharp 2407WFP has good contrast ratio (1000:1) but that is not the case with L1706 (500:1). These TFT monitors are decent for watching tv programs or movies on them since they have decent horizontal viewing angles (UltraSharp 2407WFP has 178º and L1706 has 140º). Vertical angle is 178º on UltraSharp 2407WFP and 130 ºon L1706 and those values makes them suitable for watching movies.

Presence of DVI allows you to connect Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP with some new video cards. Advantage of Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP is existance of TV tuner

Well I am big fan of DELL products been using Desktop and Laptop different models from so long! I can prefer you DELL as it looks better with respect to technical specs..

However! I can suggest you ViewSonic also have similar kind of varieties within competent prices!

well get the samsung p2370 ... far better than both of them.. well far far better... and ofcourse samsung is the best....

you could also go for the new acer ones... there is a new acer led monitor with great features... although it is TN panel but still great features... i will advise you that you do not buy an lcd right now... wait for the 120hz full hd monitors to arrive and then buy 'em.... you can then get the 3d kit from galaxy and enjoy 3d movies and games.... and remeber... dell is crap...

#12

^

Anything else you want to suggest?

120Hz lcd yeah.....they are gonna be so cheap oh & 3dkit waste of money (17k)

#13

i told you the good ones... get the samsung p2370.... or you can get acer ones on shophive.com... check em out... they are better than dell atleast... dell specialises in reverse engineering...

#14

Seriously man look over samsung for a second. Dell is offering best bang for buck. Does Samsung p2370 offer HDMI? no & 2ms & 5ms is just a marketing gimmick they are pretty much the same thing.

Oh & which models of Acer are you referring to?

#15

i think HP is a better optiion. as their have better features. Hp LCD have display, TFT, 18.5", widescreen, 1366 x 768 / 60 Hz, 250 cd/m2, 1000:1, 5 ms, 0.3 mm VGA, black.

#16

Doesn't matter both are TN (Twisted Nematic) panel....98% of all them are....trust me the result will be same ... so it comes down to the inches Vs. price . if prices are same or with ~3k difference, buy DELL cause one of my friend got same DELL model that u have mentioned.... and its not bad AT ALL for 25k.

rest are crap... samsung is over priced.

*if ur a serious fan of hi-def than buy a IPS (In Plane switching) panel LCD ..... but it would cost almost 3 times more TN panel 24''.

Dell ST2310 = 19.5k

Dell ST2410 = 25k

Both the lcd's have exactly the same specs st2410 is just 1" bigger so I would say if you have the money get st2410 otherwise st2310 is very good too & at that price point you can't get a better lcd.

^ there's a 5.5k difference.... which i think is very substantial.

if the specs are same in every way than go for 23'' ... not much of a difference.
