I have a Dell Inspiron 1564, and as the title suggests, the integrated camera has stopped working. When I open up Dell Webcam Central, it says 'no supported devices plugged in'. Skype and MSN won't detect it either. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and the drivers a million times to no effect. Having googled the problem, it appears as though it is pretty common. I have looked high and low but I have yet to come across a solution. Are there any dell users here facing the same issue? Personally I think the webcam's fried and I'll have to send it under warranty (abroad )
Did you check it from BIOS. As Dell Have diagnostic Option in it.
Whats your OS?
I think its the BIOs as well, but just to be sure install its drivers which are present in its cd
Check the setting of BIOS! i think it could disabled from there ?
No it definitely isn't the OS or the BIOS. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. The short term solution I found from the internet is that you run Dell Webcam Central, plug in anything in any USB (like a usb mouse or a flash drive) and the webcam starts working. A lot of people have the same problem so I'm starting to think it may be a defect from the manufacturer.
I had the same problem with Inspiron 1564. Dell itself is not giving a good support for webcam and some other devices on the dedicated drivers page for Inspiron 1564.
I am not sure if you've already walked through following but I got help downloading a manager after asking the question at following thread.
you can get to the helping post directly at
or directly download the Inspiron 1564 webcam manager from
