Cooking Channels/Shows

Occasionally my family cooks a recipe which they see on tv. Sadly at the end of the meal I am forced to tell them "please do not cook this again".

Yet there is no end to these show's and channels. Does anyone here like those dishes? Please share experiences. I genuinely want to know.

Sometimes it happens to me too. Well, it happens almost all the time to be truthful :(

Well of course, I don't like all those dishes they cook on those channels cause I have preferences. But I have come to known that cooking is a serious art and not everybody, specially women posses that art no matter how hard they try. Men tend to do a lot better then women not just on TV, in real life as well (no offense to ladies ).

Now, when something is cooked in your home for which the recipe was taken from TV and you know the recipe was not something entirely new, you already eat something similar in your home quite often. The main cause of that dish being so distasteful is our ladies DO NOT tend to follow the procedure/sequence as shown on TV. Yes, they add all the ingredients, but not in that particular sequence as shown on TV. And that effs up the dish. Trust me the sequence IS the main key. Why our ladies do not follow the procedure is very simple. In their minds, they think they are still better cook then 'zubaida appa OR kokab khawaja' .... they are just cooks on TV.

Try testing my theory by observing your ladies for the sequenced cooking as seen on TV.

Remembering recipes and exact procedure from TV is not easy (or even writing down the instructions in real time). Tell your khaatoon-e-khana to follow recipes from a recipe book or from a recipe web site.

My sister used to try some recipes from Kokab Khawja show and they didn't turn out to be too bad. But then again she's a really good cook in general too.

Thats not true. I have experienced it my self by cooking few times. if they don’t have the ‘art’, they will still mess it up cause their focus will be on the ingredients not the procedure even if they reading from recipe book. But if they posses the art, like you mentioned about your sister, I can bet that she is not dependent on any book or TV show to create taste in dishes but merely to learn or try new dishes.

The problem is not with the cook.

The problem is with those who are eating and if their mood isn't good then nothing will taste good.

Its my experience only. :P

But thats entirely different discussion.

what happens in Movies does it happen in real life? No!

TV is scripted lined lighted and full of fake emails and Phone calls = (making money)

Check out a channel called "EpicMealTime" on Youtube. Its really unique food channel.

Yes, after all they commercial entities opened to earn money so what you said is necessary for them to earn money. But that doesn’t mean the they are telling us fake recipes.

But if I were to follow your logic, then I would also have to call religious channels fake right?

the real question is has anyone actually been helped by those religious channels on tv? NO

Those channels are totally fake and making money a Good religious tv channel would not play ads like hair removing weight losing and properties ads

1. TV channels are based in Pakistan but all time they receives phone calls from India WTF?

2. A beard man sitting front of camera and resolving viewers problems by asking their sisters and moms name and later he advised them do prayer what is that logic?

I know you wouldn't agree with me because TV is a second most wanted thing in Pakistan after salan roti

^ Dude, no offense, but you got issues, seriously, sometime ago you were saying crap like social networking sites are only used for porn, now you're saying this new crap about religous tv channels, or any channel for that matter.

Here's my answers to your ^ questions. (in respective order)

Yes

So religious channels should be completely add-free? They're not allowed to make some money to keep their channels alive?

You probably watch channels like Geo & ARY, who if you don't know are more Indian, than Pakistani.

So people going to these mullahs & doing the same is any better?
