Big ugly problem :S

Well guys plz check this base score thing n suggest me if any thing is wrong here ... especially base score for RAM :S

my computer specs r;

CPU Type DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E4500, 2200 MHz (11 x 200)

Motherboard Name nVIDIA nForce MCP73 Reference Board

Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce 7100-630i

System Memory 2 GB

DIMM1: Kingston 1G-UDIMM 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)

DIMM2: Kingston 1G-UDIMM 1 GB DDR2-667 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-15 @ 333 MHz) (4-4-4-12 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-9 @ 200 MHz)

BIOS Type Award (11/22/07)

and for this system i get this base score

Processor: 5.2

Ram: 4.6

Graphics: 3.5

Gaming graphics: 3.0

Primary hard disk: 5.7

the issue is this some one told me he has ddr 1gb n his base score for ram is 4.5 :S is it possible

Nope seems fine with the system you have.

I assume you mean to ask that how is simple DDR getting a better score than DDR2 ? You have stock/standard ddr2, he might have faster/better DDR1 ram. Most ddr1's ran at 400 compared to your 667. Don't expect a big score difference.

Vista rating is junk btw.

this board only has a single channel mem controller thus the lower ram socre!

infact try running sis softsandra mem benchmark for even a greater surprise!

#4

greater surprises u mean? ... well by the way is this value ram pc 5300 is a dual channel ram or the board is single channel ... or both are?

#5

Your PC is fine =)

#6

It's fine. I wouldn't worry about such small details unless I was looking to squeeze every bit of performance I can, and build a top-notch gaming box.

I was wondering if comparing vista computer scores, and bragging about it is a latest trend in Pakistan? Or so it seems. Other variables are the sleek designs, and previously it was Mhz and Ghz. @OP, no offense, I'm not pointing at you.

I think Vista scores are pretty much useless. 3DMark06 and PCMark05 are real measures of graphic performance and computing performance respectively. Btw just as a curio, does have a 6 as a vista score ?? I've never seen 6 even on pretty high end machines. I get a 5.7.

my vista score is all 5.9. i think it does not go up to 6.0 otherwise i would have it!

#9

the board has a single channel controller.

If ur board had a dual channel controller it would be able to get data off a set of sticks at the same time, thus essentially doubling the mem bandwidth

Get sis-soft sandra and run mem benchmark. Then compare it to other mobos with a dual channel controller

That being said u probably wont notice too much of a difference unless u do a lot of compression or play games.
