This seems like a good deal?

#3

Is this also a good deal?

Its better that you check out the reviews of the products you are considering by searching their product name on a search engine. There are several websites that do in depth reviews of laptops and netbooks. Also keep in mind what should be the minimal things that you are looking for in addition to specifications. For example weight, heat generations, battery life, matte or glossy screen etc etc.

That CQ 61 is an older model. HP G62 would be better than CQ 61, as the cq61 is C2D while HP G62 specs are better (core i3).

#6

Get the corei3 processor based HP

#7

Go for HP one if you are choosing between these two. But do keep in mind that the one with i3 may have lower battery life as compared to one with Core 2 Duo.

#8

Yes now I am more interested in HP G62 as it is core i3. Don't care about matte finish or battery life much but let's see about heat generation.

By the way I totally forgot that today is Saturday and banks are closed so I can't take out money and buy the laptop.

^ Online bank transfer through ATM should still work.

Hmm…good idea, I think I can transfer money to Galaxy through my MCB online account (if they have MCB)

but I was thinking of browsing the market…may be I could find better deal!?

Bought the laptop for Rs.45500. Used my brother's CC to buy it. Although the above link I posted says it has 250GB HD but in fact it has 320GB.

I am also looking for a laptop and chose this one till now : http://www.mega.pk/laptop_products/242/Dell-Inspiron-N5010.html

I am just worried about heating issue and battery timings. Otherwise its a goof piece. What do you people suggest. Budget is near 50k.

My brother got this a few days ago. Seems like a hot cake because when I went to galaxy today, they were installing windows on 5 or 6 of these models…probably getting ready for customer.

how much extra Galaxy charged you for using Credit Card?

#16

Hey TechMan.....which OS version does it have?

....and if runs on DOS, does it come with all the drivers on a CD so that when you install Windoze, all the devices work?

#17

^

nope, it only comes with additional DOS CD.

You'll have to find drivers on manufacturer's website and install it by yourself. Galaxy guys will only install windows for you...

I had the same problem when I purchased lappy from Galaxy

#18

I have always wondered about the lappys that come only with DOS. Thanks for clearing it up. Searching for drivers while not rocket science, certainly can be a major pain esp when the hardware devices show unknown devices. Sheesh!!!!

@bathisland

If a laptop comes with DOS then they give you Windows 7 preinstalled (with all drivers installed) but 30 days trial version. My brother has licensed version so I just used his product key and my windows is now activated and genuine.

Good to know TechMan....
