Apple Computers store launched in Lahore

Staff Report

LAHORE: US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson on Friday termed the launch of Apple Computers in Lahore, a landmark of American investors’ confidence on Pakistan.

According to a press release, ambassador said, “The partnership between Apple and Raffles Systems, representing our two countries, will promote growth and prosperity in Pakistan”.

She hoped this partnership and others between American and Pakistani companies would keep growing.

Since 1977, Apple Computers has been a global market leader for personal computers, portable media players, cell phones, computer software and other electronic products. Apple’s popular consumer products have moved technology from the corporate world to the public.

“Information technology, especially in the personal computer sector, has grown phenomenally in Pakistan,” said the ambassador. “The combination of internationally competitive costs and high-speed connectivity make Pakistan an attractive destination for IT investment.”

More than 80 US firms currently operating in Pakistan, were employing more than 41,000 people directly and an additional one million indirectly. The US is Pakistan’s largest investor, with more than $900 million investment in fiscal year 2007.

I suppose its one of the existing raffles offices (?)…

If you are in Karachi, your options are Marsons, Bawany and Media Center.

How are the prices with Raffles? I don't believe this is an "corporate apple store" but just another (well connected) reseller finally opening doors in Lahore.

Will give it a visit when I am in town next.

ya its in partnership with raffle systems:

That's one right step in taking the marketshare away from microsoft windows. Perhaps they've spotted a market for their products in Pakistan.

dudes don’t get your hopes high this not an APPLE company store, its just a third party “APPLE premium reseller store”, so i don’t think its any news worthy stuff.

if Apple opens its own company store then its news otherwise its just any other private reseller.
what is media centre?

#10
.

what do you mean by media center???

1- do you mean entertainment center as in home theater room etc also called media center, like in media center pc also etc…

2- or you are talking about private reseller in pakistan who sells apple products als0 called media center www.mediacenterpk.com

3- or you mean by apple is coming out with its own media center OS and computers for home theaters, something similar to Windows XP Media Center Edition OS.

premium resellers or authorized sellers are just bunch private stores authorized by apple to sell their products, so anybody can be reseller provided if they have met certain condition.

of course big news would be if apple open its company store in pakistan which is 100% run by apple. you know what i mean
yaar i was talking about mediacentrepk.com

what are they? resellers or what?

Yep. Authorized resellers. :) No real Apple Store here yet…

#12

I don't see what the problem is here. I would assume an authorized reseller would carry the same prices as the 'original' Apple Store...

#13

^

Nope. Authorized resellers are already present in Pakistan but their prices are more than those on Apple's owe website.
That may be true but you have to take into account other costs shipping the products to Pakistan etc. Companys don’t always have the same price worldwide even if they have their own branch present.

#15

I think I'd just like the idea of an official Apple Store... resellers aren't so bad as long as they're official and all, and can be trusted...

#16

1) since its a company store, they can provide seep discounts right on the spot
That is one false statement. No official Apple store will give you a “seep” discount whatever that word is or a deep discount. The only official discount policy Apple stores have is that if you produce your student / school ID, or prove you are a student… you can then get a student discount.

Biggest and stupidest misconception. You are talking about US web store pricing.

Compare local Apple prices with the following official Apple store prices in Singapore, Australia, UK, India…etc. You’ll get the picture. Each country has it’s own pricing structure.

A local reseller, can’t tell the names out here, registered that domain. This was later purchased by Apple. Don’t get any ideas… yet.

in apple store there have always been section since the apple started company store, where recent overstock items are available for almost 80% off, there are open box items selling for so cheap, there are recent floor models for sale, there is always in store one day sale every other week where certain items are on sale, in sunday paper there are flyier for weekly sale on items.
Apple stores carry the latest product line that is current at the time. All pre-used / old items are available on their website as refurbs, which you can get for a decent discount, NOT 80% off. Please don’t continue to argue without providing facts.

Apple doesn’t post “flyers” on Sunday papers for “weekly sale on items”, if you are at all familiar with Apple’s marketing and retail strategies.
