A little search trends research of mine

#1

Pakistan may be called 'The Land of Pure' but the internet users have no such purity in their minds. After Pakistan bieng ranked number one explicit material searches by Google i thought maybe it's the Indian lobby playing against Pakistan.

However i led this little research of mine and from what concluded from this research was that Google trends info was correct infact. The search drop box in search engines automatically lists top 8-10 searches done by internet users based on the frequency as a word is typed in. I looked up for what people search for after the word pakistani..

Out of curiousity i thought lets look up what other countries search for.. then i typed in India..

i just thought maybe indians are just geeks.. what about americans.. and our past muslim brothers Bengalis..

I guess that just says it all. Are we are corrupt minded from top to bottom? The only useful thing we search for is newspapers :/

Well actually the search box lists "RECENT " top 8-10 searches done by Internet users. So the trend is different at different times. I just typed the word 'Pakistani ' in bing search box and only saw Pakistani Girls and stage drama from your list. No Pakistani Mujra turned up in my suggestions. Moreover, there is nothing wrong with Pakistani songs, Pakistani music, Pakistani fashion searches anyways.

In short, I the trend varies with time and is perfectly normal.

Same case with Google:

The suggestions show up from list of recent searches (that is a fact), but still how are we sure that these searches are made from Pakistan only? People in other countries might be searching for these terms. But I consider this as a more concerning search trend:

"The only useful thing we search for is newspapers"

How can you regard Pakistan drama, recipes and fashion as being not useful? I think Pakistani dramas are the best!

@OP

It would suffice to say that common sense is not common these days. At least in the case of Google labs, they have written it clearly (even for blinds) that their search suggestions are totally synthetic and dont depict any reality unlike perceived generally. Internet stats are reliable only if given by analysts like Akamai.

beta, btw, bing pulls data from your cookies/search history as well. So it shall show you results based on YOUR 'interests'.

Moreover, what about those cases when non-pakis look for search terms like "pakistani _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _" etc. ?

It could be anything, like

pakistani bombers

pakistani terrorists

etc etc

And did you notice that the suggestions dont work with the name of a religion? This is just to make sure that no idiot should be able to base his "research" about a religion on just search suggestions.

Lolz!!! he has got a point!

your search trend is wrong when it comes to other keywords. assuming you are in pakistan

- yup i accept that pakistani is more accurate trend.

- but if indian type indian in india might get totally different suggestion, since you typed indian from pakisani ip then bing is giving you suggestions what pakistanis are searching for from pakistan regarding india/indian, and it goes the same for other keywords too. suggestions are based on your !@#$ ip.

Unless i have disabled cookies/history.

Besides even if boxes show recent suggestions not most frequent. It gives us a vague idea of what people are searching.

And if you are saying that search suggestions are shown country wise and searching ‘indian’ would give different suggestion when typed in different countries, then you are right.

However if you use www.google.com/ncr , (No country response) this won’t give different results.

Pakistani recipes/ fashion is not something constructive… like reading newspapers maybe.

and Hawker, I am getting suggestions on religions on google ere … even ‘christianity is bullshit’.

Another point of interest, try searching zardari in google, and then try obama or manmohan singh.

Well, I don't really think that one would have to take help from search engines to determine the morality/mental state of specific group of people.

Just go out of ur homes and see it for ur self.... and if u look closely, you'll find out that what ever the search engines were suggesting you was not even the half of what you saw in real out world.

Personally i don't care what ppl of other countries are doing but what we are doing.

and I am very ashamed to say that we (as in a nation) are pathetic excuse for a nation.

hmm… i kind of disagree with you 100%.

- you say “”“go out and see”"", that would tell you or give you suggestions from “PUBLIC SOCIAL” context. thats for sure you ain’t gonna find people yelling mujra mujra out on the street…

- now search engines kind of really determines masses of society is thinking as you have said morality/mental state in “PRIVATE SOCIAL” context, keywords popularity like mujra, lahore scandal or karachi scandal video etc does tell you that there is some humongous number of “HORNY” pakistani inernet users out there whom are searching for such content in their privacy.

lolz

Let them live and search whatever they want.

Who gave you authority to teach Pakistanis on moral ground?

Well you have all the right to disagree and perhaps, I should have been more clear in my previous post that I haven’t had the “mujra” or the scandal stuff at all in my mind being the reason for this nation being pathetic.

Beside being horny has nothing to do with being moral or immoral… Its just natural and there’s nothing anyone can do about it and if our fathers weren’t horny at some time, would we still be here talking about it? :)

Having said that your remarks actually prove my point even more about this nation being pathetic. why watch/search for mujra’s when you can search/watch real porn. I know both are immoral but If you really have to commit robbery, why rob 10 rupees when you can rob 1 million?

even pathethic at being immoral…

^^^

i like your straight forward attitude, yup i agree with all above you wrote.

........................................................................................

lastly on humorous funny note i'll disagree with what you have written "why rob 10 rupees when you can rob 1 million?", I say why go for 1 million when you can rob in billions and in dollars may i add.... lol

Like I said earlier.... extreme example.

Khapppppay!

Aside from the debated accuracy of search engine trends,...from those suggestions I can only say that majority of internet users in Pakistan are teenagers or young adults...and at that age the average human is very...well horny, so what do you expect? :D

It does not mean we are 'corrupt minded.(whatever that means)

From the Indian searches it seems mostly something that some tourist would search for I guess...

There are young people in India, and Bangladesh… which have political/economic and cultural similarities to our nation.

Atleast they search ‘indian’ for tourism… which is a good thing… dunno if the indian themselves searching for it or foriegners…

The suggestions that turn out after typing ‘Pakistani’ truly gives us the nature of our majority’s online presence…

I think Pakistani users are maybe too simple minded that they use simple words… whereas others use a different method to search for explicit websites, like long sentences.
