2011 An Unusual Year of Our Life Time

#1

This year - 2011 we're going to experience four unusual dates. 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born and add the age that you will be this year, and the result will be 111 for everyone!

For example you was born in 1957 and 57 + 54 = 111

This year October will have 5 Saturdays, 5 Sundays & 5 Mondays and This happens only every 823 years.

These particular years are known as 'Moneybags'

which is also true for 2010, 2009, 2008 and so on and will also be true for 2012, 2013, 2014 and so on… so what so special about 2011 ?

@armada

It's year 2011, not 11. It will be:

1/1/2011, 1/11/2011, 11/1/2011, 11/11/2011

Furthermore, adding year of birth with age will give the current year. That's not magic, it's math.

1957, thus 1957 + 54 = 2011

What you are doing is dropping "19" and getting "111" for answer. But it's still the same.

Although, "Moneybags" years are also astronomically predictable. But still they are interesting. I must admit, that is the most interesting thing in your post that intrigue me. :)

Taking the last two digits essentially means you’re subtracting 1900 out of the figure. 1957-1900=57. Your age is the number of years passed from 1957 till now. So that would be 2011-1957.

(2011-1957)+(1957-1900)=(crossing 1957)2011-1900=111.

(2012-1957)+(1957-1900)=2012-1900=112 and so on.

As you can see the birth year gets canceled out no matter what you put in.

So did October 1988, 1994, 2005 and it’ll happen again in 2016. Check the calendar if you don’t believe me.
