128k or 256k DSL?

#1

I was wondering why both PTCL or LDN are now not offering DSL connections of 128Kbps or 256Kbps.Any Ideas?? I think by offering such connections they can increase their DSL users.

#2

i think its their marketting strategy... instead of lowering tarrif for 256KBps they upgraded their users to 512Kbps. (just to manintain the revenue levels)

Why would you want a lower bandwidth connection? I mean we all want high speed unlimited bandwidth don’t we ?

Everybody wants a high bandwidth connection but i m not allowed to spend more than rs600 for internet.

@hu-mazari

You are right bro. They can increase customer base by lowering tariff rates instead of doubling or even rippling the bandwidth.

If some company introduces DSL in Rs. 500/- it will be very popular package even if it gives only 128 kbps.

Most of the Internet users are not downloaders, they just need a reliable Internet connection for daily browsing and 128 kbps is enough for that.

w0w man... a person who does not download does not know anything really.... you can get wonderful stuff from internet... and if you are not downloading then you know nothing about internet really or you have a 20 year old 486 machine which cannot run a video

u are wrong man , those are talking about only 512+ they are just downloaders or all time net users lol , btw there are chances in future that 128k and 256k are announce with low prices and there will be no more dialup ,

coz people are still here in pakistan which have very low budgets and they want to use net .

and some are people those use only for their official mails or just for lil browsing and believe it there is huge number of customer are in market those still using dial up.

yaar dialup ko khatam karna easy nahin hay… do you think your companies can give good enough coustomer service cuz every line in pakistan needs to be replaced due to noise:D… all dialup users will have to change wires and other problems like distance from exchanges are gonna occur… when it gets hectic ppl would go back to “dialup”… to stop that you should give tutorials to ppl about torrents usage… when they would see the amount of movies and “porn” out there they would definately switch at all costs :D:D:D

Well bandwidth wars have just begun…Its the new “mobile war” where consumers benefit a lot…

We have come to “night free” offer from the dark ages when mobilink was charging 7 rupees or something for one “local call”.

The porn craze did’t last long…I remember people had their pc’s on 24/7 when the 64k “Broadband” arrived…

I think most broadband users have grown out of the porn phase…

Hi All,

I dont know why this new post created for 128,256k ,we should not discuss such old speed and obselete technology.if we have more then mentioned speed with same rate then who is made to use same price with less speed.

i think Linkdotnet contribute alot for this specially for unlimited spackages with high speed even very econimical prices.

so enjoyeee

I believe this post is for DSL with a lower speed and a lower price than the current prices.

I think it would be impractical to give a lower speed/price for DSL because remember, the DSL companies have to pay for the allotted sets of IPs they get.

Consider PTCL’s 512 for 1100. If they offer 256 for say 700, they would be making less money but giving more IPs away. Since the companies have to compete for a better speed to price ratio, they are forcing people to keep up with their minimum package, which currently seems to be mostly the 512 connection.

Well, I was very happy with DANCOM with a dedicated connection of 512Kb with 4GB, as it gave me the same speed 24 hours a day and never got disconnected.

I think those people who don't have to download much but need a stable connection that prior feature was really very good.

In February, my connection was upgraded to be unlimited by the LDN (as the transition was made from DANCOM to LDN), but for the last 6 months I have such a bad experience with that that I am ultimately going to close my connection this month.
